PM Intern Case Study 2022-23

Ride- Hailing app of choice is Uber.

1) Standout Smart Product Choice - Ease of resolving issues.

Uber not only has a pleasant user interface, but it also quickly and smoothly addresses any problems
a consumer may have had before, during, or after a booking.

To illustrate, when you book a cab, the driver often calls to confirm the address before determining
whether to accept the ride.

If the driver decides against it and has time in their hand, they will not cancel the ride. As a result, we
are compelled to cancel the ride and pay a penalty.

However, if we raise a complaint for the trip, the penalty amount would be quickly overturned.

Ps. This issue could be entirely resolved by the following methods

i)The driver knows the destination the rider has put so that they could decide whether to accept the
ride.

ii) Making sure that the cancelation has happened after detecting if the driver has moved in the
direction of the rider.

Improvement Required – Booking a cab for someone else.

You may presently use this functionality to use your app to order a cab for someone else. The other
person's number would be given to the driver, who would then get in touch with them directly
removing you as a middleman, which is convenient.

This feature has a major limitation.

You are busy and your family member who is not tech savvy wants to travel.

2) Data required to test the Hypothesis.

Data required: Churn Rate.

Measure the churn rate after removing the penalty charged on the riders. If the churn rate has
reduced, it proves that there is a problem with the current feature and it could be improved.

3) Improvements - Dependents

The process could be improved by introducing ‘Dependable’ in your profile.

‘Dependable’ allows the user to add the phone numbers of elderly people who
are not tech savvy in their account.

a) The main user can register dependent’s phone number in their app and when the dependent signs
in the app, they will get an easy interface with few saved locations (which could be entered and saved
by the main user) on the main screen.

b) The dependent has to choose one of the saved locations and confirm the ride and the cab will be
booked.

c)The next screen will show the details of the driver and the phone number.

d)The payment would be forwarded to the main user.

Metrics to measure the success of the feature:

i) Number of users who register dependable in their account.

ii) Number of rides availed by Dependents.
