SCHOOL COMMUNITY COORDINATION

PREVENTIVE ALERT SYSTEM IN SCHOOL (PASS)

Purpose:

This manual serves as safety guideline for Mag-aba National High School and the
community, in the implementation of Limited Face to Face program for Grade 11
and Grade 12 TVL-IA, TVL-HE, TVL-ICT and Academic-HUMSS.

This shall insure the safety of students; teachers and the people in the
community and the continuity of learning in the event that a member of the
school community becomes a close contact of suspect, probable or confirmed
COVID-19 case within or outside the school. This plan also aims to minimize the
impact of COVID-19 resurgence to the school community.

The Guideline includes case scenario that may affect the school operation and
necessary response of each stakeholders to prevent, defect, isolate and treat the
COVID-19. It also contains strategies to reintegrate the school operations to
ensure the safe resumption of limited face to face classes.

It is recommended to review and update the contingency plan regularly and as


needed arises, according to the most recent risk associated with COVID-19 and
the latest guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH).

Memorandum No. 15 s. 2020)
General Guidelines for the operationalizing of The Preventive
Alert System in School (PASS).

1. The Preventive Alert System in Schools (PASS) based on DepEd Order No. 34 s,
2003, is a systematic relay of information on a child’s or teacher state of health to
appropriate personnel and agencies in the locality.

2.The school head shall operationalize the Preventive Alert System in the school.

3.Teachers in Charge shall explain in class how PASS works:

a. Learners will observe the well-being of their own classmates and if someone
among them is not feeling well or has colds/cough and is feverish, the sick
learner will be reported to the teacher for validation of his/her condition.

b. Early morning health inspection shall be conducted routinely by the teachers


and School Nurse to detect presence of fever and other signs or symptoms of
infection. Teachers shall observe the health status of each learner in the
classroom. If the teacher identified a learner who is sick, this case will be
reported to the school head.

c. The school head shall notify the family/guardian member of the sick learner. A
face mask should worn by the feverish person and immediately referred to the
school health personnel to be placed in the designated isolation room in school,
while waiting for the parents/guardian to arrive or to the nearest
barangay/municipal health center for evaluation or referral to a hospital if
needed. The same process will be observed for teachers/health personnel who
will exhibit symptoms of infection.

d. Learners, teachers and other personnel evaluated by the school health


personnel/referred to hospitals shall strictly observe the advice of the health
personnel/hospital, including the possibility of quarantine.

e. The condition of the learner, teacher and other personnel should be closely
followed up by the attending school health personnel.

f. Learner on home quarantine shall be given ADM of education.

4. School head shall closely coordinate with the barangay/municipal health officers and
the SDO’s relative to any resident in the community who has traveled to and returned
from country/area affected by the COVID-19 virus.

5. School head/school health personnel shall conduct daily monitoring of health status
of children and personnel, and maintain a record on health status.

6. School head is expected to take the lead in operationalizing the PASS and to rely
relevant information to the School Division Superintendent and such information be
likewise relayed to the School Health Division.
