Abstract

Trisha Paytas is the epitome of a polarizing person. Her rough family life and her craving

for fame at a young age sparked a need to be in the public’s eye. She gained traction through

shows and reality TV and boosted her audience, but she was never as popular as she was on

social media platforms. Youtube and TikTok have pushed her into the eyes of about 12 million

people. All of this attention mostly stemmed from her Youtube channel which inhabited some

controversial videos. She has disrespected mental health and the transgender community while

also being racist towards Japanese people. Although Trisha has had many scandals, she is still

well known and has not been taken off the internet. Polarizing is Trisha Paytas.

Trisha Paytas and Her Polarizing Personality

Trish Paytas is one of the most bizarre and peculiar social media influencers. She has

been in the spotlight since 2007 and continues to shine. Trisha is an influencer that describes

herself as “a mix between Woody Allen and your local hooker” (FamousPeople). She has a

booming personality that is hard to ignore. This personality causes her to be very controversial.

Everyone out there has an opinion on Trisha. It is either they love her or hate her. There is no in

between. She is seen as a funny content creator with a bubbly personality to some. To others, she

is a mentally ill lady who makes questionable life choices. She is one of the most polarizing

people in the nation.

Trisha’s childhood was quite different from how she turned out. She was born in

Riverside, California and raised in Los Angeles. She was raised Catholic by her Christian

parents. Trisha lived with her two parents and two older sisters until her parents divorced when

she was just three years old (Familytron, 2021). Trisha and her father have a rocky relationship

but she and her mother are very close. Trisha’s mother has had five weddings and Trisha was a

result of the second marriage. Trisha has had a rough time with her family, but her childhood

was pretty normal. She completed high school and then started her singing career.

Trisha wanted to become famous from a young age. When she was eighteen years old,

she was in “Greg Behrendt Show” and “Who wants to be a SuperHero?” which were both short

lived but pushed Trisha into the spotlight (FamousPeople). After this, in 2007, was when she

started her famous vlogging channel on Youtube (Viradiya, 2022). Her Youtube channel, titled

blndsundoll4mj, is where she posted mostly fashion and beauty advice and occasionally some

relationship advice. Her channel blew up and she gained millions of subscribers. This led to her

appearing in many popular shows including “Ellen”, “The Price is Right”, “Modern Family”, and

even “America’s Got Talent”. She was featured in music videos and was a background dancer at

an award show. She has been friends with many famous people, but it seems that all of those

relationships do not last too long. Recently, Trisha has been on everyone's mind with her baby

and a rumor that was spread that she named her child after the dead queen. Trisha's track record

is long. She has been almost everywhere in terms of the internet. Trisha wants everyone to know

who she is and this is why good or bad, people have their opinions.

If one was to ask what they know Trisha from, the majority would say that they know her

from her Youtube channel. Trisha's channel is well defined as a controversial whirlpool. Her first

famous video was a music video of her first single “Fat Chicks” (Santos, 2022). This was just the

first of many controversial videos put on her platform. Just because it made some people mad, it

did not make Trisha stop making videos. She released her song “Daddy Issues” which hit the

Billboard Top Heatseekers albums chart. Her following grew to five million subscribers on

Youtube and seven and a half million on TikTok. All of her success let her meet other online

personalities. From all of her collaborations she gained an even bigger following. She is like a

magnetic field and is just pulling people in one by one. Her community will grow and grow and

it is doubtful that it will stop anytime soon.

A lot of Trisha’s moments that got her fame were well off never coming out to the public.

Her first controversy was with her 2012 character “Trishii” (Santos, 2022). This character of hers

was beyond offensive. Trishii was labeled as a “Japanese pop star” and it was Trisha dressed in

childish clothing and an extreme amount of foundation that was a bit darker than her skin tone.

In this time of Youtube, it was a trend to dress up as different characters and make silly skits.

Some Youtubers were respectful but a select few, including Trisha, were at another level of

disrespect. As of now, all videos with Trishii are now deleted.

Trisha has also made videos about her self diagnosed disorders like dissociative identity

disorder or otherwise known as DID. DID is when a person has “split” personalities that can

control a person's actions at any given time (Santos, 2022). Trisha posted a video called “MEET

MY ALTERS '' where she introduces each alter that she has. This caused her audience to split.

Some were supportive, but others realized that she was not actually diagnosed with the disorder.

She merely related some characteristics about herself to someone who has DID. Many people

came forward to confront Trisha about her spreading false information about the disorder and

once again Trisha deleted the video.

Finally, Trisha had a lot of backlash because of her coming out as transgender. In 2019,

Trisha came out with a video proclaiming that she was trangender and transitioning to a male .

She openly said she was only attracted to gay men and she had “penis envy” (Santos, 2022). The

video that she posted has been deleted and she has come forth and said she was wrong. She said

she was gender fluid and went by all pronouns. She has said that people made her realize what

she said and posted was wrong and that she is glad that she has found herself. She is proud to call

herself gender fluid.

Trisha Paytas is surely a character. A polarizing character that we cannot keep our eyes

off of. Trisha has done some terrible things in her past. She has directly been racist towards

Japanese people. She has been disrespectful towards people with a mental disorder. She has also

been disrespectful towards people of the transgender community. These things should probably

make people not want to watch her videos anymore, but on the contrary. The simple fact is that

Trisha is entertaining. She may do this for attention or this is just how she is, but people love it.

Her bubbly personality and bright persona is just attracting. Honestly, she comes up with great

ideas to keep people entertained. Right now, Trisha is happily married and just gave birth to her

first child, Malibu Barbie, whose name is the best thing to come out of the year 2022. Trisha will

never stop letting people know what is going on in her life and those people will never stop

watching. This is because Trisha Paytas is one of the most polarizing people in the world.
