NUTRITION MONTH ACTIVITIES and their MECHANICS

Advocacy Walk (July 5, 2019 -2:30 @ School Ground-Assembly Area)


Mechanics:
1. All students are required to participate in the activity.
2. Bring the following outputs during the parade: 2 slogans and 1 poster.
3. The attendance during the walk will be checked by the class secretary and to be submitted to the
coordinator.

Zumba (July 5, 2019 -2:30 @ School Ground)


Mechanics:
1. All students are required to actively participate in the activity.
2. The attendance during the zumba will be checked by the class secretary and to be submitted to the
coordinator.

Poster Making Contest (July 4, 2019 -10AM @ Sci.Lab)


Mechanics:
1. Each participant should submit ONE entry per section only.
2. The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme of the Nutrition Month 2019 celebration:
“Kumain ng Wasto at Maging Aktibo… Push Natin To!”
3. The following materials will be used in the contest:
A. A cartolina (white background & vertical format) and a Mongol pencil (to be provided by the contestant)
B. Coloring material to be provided by the contestant.
4. Entries must be submitted not later than July 4, 2019 (Thursday) at the TLE building.  Posters must be done
in free hand and be officially submitted to Mrs. Rutchel L. Balbin-Espadera. The artist will be held
accountable to any issues that may arise with regards to the originality and authenticity of the design.
5. The posters will be judged according to the following criteria:
 Creativity and presentation (40%)
 Originality (30%) and
 Relevance to the theme (30%).
6. The decision of the Board of Judges shall be final and irrevocable.

Slogan Making Contest (July 4, 2019 -10AM @ Sci.Lab)


Mechanics:
1. There shall be 2 representatives for each section. The two representatives will make TWO output for
the contest -1 English and 1 Filipino.
2. The slogan shall interpret and revolve around the theme given.
3. The participants will provide one whole white cartolina and other materials to be used.
4. The entries must be done on the spot and must be completed within the allotted time of two hours.
5. The slogan will be judged according to the following criteria:

Nutri –Quiz (July 12, 2019 -2:00 PM @ Sci.Lab)


Mechanics:
1. Each section shall have three (3) representatives competing separately.
2. The contest questions shall be based on the Talking Points: Nutrition Month 2019 which will be provided by
the TLE Teacher.
3. The contest is divided in to three (3) rounds with 10 questions each: EASY –multiple choices; 1 point each
correct answer, AVERAGE –identification; 2 points each correct answer, and DIFFICULT -–identification;
3 points each correct answer.
4. The first three (3) groups with the highest points shall be declared as winners: 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd
Place, respectively.
5. In case of tie, a tie-breaking question will be given. The first student to get the correct answer shall be
declared the winner.

Essay Writing Contest (July 12, 2019 -2:00 PM @ Sci.Lab)


Mechanics:
1. Each section shall have one (1)representative
2. Entries must be written in English and must have at least 100 words and must not exceed to 200 words.
3. Essays must be original and previously unpublished.
4. Entries will be judged based on
 Content 40%
 Originality 20%
 Structure 10%
 Adherence to the topic 20%
 Wow factor 10%
TOTAL 100%
5. Entries must follow the specifications below:
 Long-sized bond paper provided by the organizer
 Correct margin on each side
 Contains at least three 3 paragraphs
 The participants shall be given one hour to write and finish their essay.

Fruits and Vegetable Display Poster Making Contest (August 2, 2019 -8AM @ designated area)
REQUIREMENTS
Fruits, vegetables, and other edible ingredients are to be provided and brought in by the
students. Any special tool, utensil, or gadget for execution should be taken care of by the
participants.
Fruits, vegetables and other ingredients must all be edible. This means that these could be
readily eaten and consumed. On the other hand, raw food may be allowed only if these could be
eaten even when not cooked.
JUDGING CRITERIA
CREATIVITY AND ARTISTRY
Shows artistic merit by producing an impressive output. New ideas in 0-30 points
design and technique to advance the art are visible.
FULL UTILIZATION OF RAW INGREDIENTS
0-25 points
Uses at least 75% of the ingredients/materials brought in.
DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY
0-10 points
Produces an intricate yet neat artwork
SANITATION AND HYGIENE
Ensures the sanitary and hygienic handling of ingredients. This includes 0-10 points
the management of working area and clothes.
TOTAL POSSIBLE POINTS 0-100 POINTS

Cooking Contest (August 2, 2019 -8AM @ designated area)


 THE COMPETING TEAM
One (1) team representative per section consisting of three (3) members each year level.
 REQUIREMENTS
The participants shall provide and bring in their own ingredients for their recipes. They shall also
provide their own tools, utensils, knives, pots, pans, small electrical or mechanical tools, and any other
special equipment.
 MECHANICS
Prior to the day of the competition
1. The ingredients for the dish should be healthy and as much as possible fresh. Participants
are encouraged to strategize based on the required main ingredient.
2. There should be common main ingredient for the dish which will be discussed by the
adviser and the coordinator.
3. Accurate and clear recipes of the dish must be written in the Recipe Form. This should be
submitted to the TLE Teacher.
Competition Day
1. All competitors are requested to wear complete kitchen uniform. Each team must provide
at least three (3) kitchen towels.
2. Before the competition starts, each working area will be checked by the committee to
ensure that no item (e.g., food and beverage) not listed in the recipes have been brought in.
3. A team who brings in any cooked item will be disqualified.
4. All preparation and cooking of dishes including garnishes must be entirely made and
crafted on-the-spot.
5. Every team should have two plates for each dish. One for display and one for tasting.
6. The participants will be given a total of three (3) hours broken down into the following
segments:

7. The kitchen area is off-limits to all except for the judges and committee members during
the competition proper. Coaching is prohibited.
8. Total time allotment is two (2) hours. Going beyond the allotted time would incur a penalty
of one (1) point per minute or a fraction thereof. The same penalty will also be applied should a
participant fail to serve the dishes on time. The penalty will be subtracted from the average score.

Nutri jingle (August 2, 2019 -8AM @ School Open Ground)


Mechanics:
1. There shall be 1 entry per section.
2. The entries shall satisfy the following criteria:
 Originality (lyrics, melody and choreography) 40%
 Relevance to the theme 30%
 Costume/Props 20%
 Audience Impact 10%

3. The number of participants per section is equivalent to the total number of students in the section.
4. The full presentation time will have a minimum of 2 minutes and 30 seconds and maximum of 3 minutes.
Going beyond the allotted time would incur a penalty of one (1) point per minute or a fraction thereof. The
same penalty will also be applied should a participant fail to serve the dishes on time. The penalty will be
subtracted from the average score.

Nutri-KING & QUEEN (August 2, 2019 -8AM @ School Open Ground)


Mechanics:
1. There shall be 2 pairs of participants per section with a pot money of 200php per pair which will be given on
or before July 8, 2019.
2. Each participants will be given 10 envelopes with control number.
3. The representative with highest amount raised will be declared Nutri-King/Queen.
4. The amount raised by the representative will be cut according to the given bracket:
 1,999 and below -100% of the amount will be given to the school.
 2,000 and 2,999 -60% of the amount will be given to the school and the remaining 40% will be
returned to the representative.
 3,000 and above -50% of the amount will be given to the school and the remaining 50% will be
returned to the representative.
5. First canvassing –July 17,2019
6. Last canvassing –July 31, 2019
7. The proceeds of this event will be purchased of the lacking equipment for the GPP improvement.
NOTE:
1. There shall be no repetition of participants except for the event which requires all students to be
present.
