Content Standards:

The learner demonstrates: appreciation of contemporary art forms, found in the various regions by understanding the
elements and principles.

Understanding Goals: Essential Questions:

 To understand the study of humanities and arts;
 To define the nature and distinguish the paradigms
of art; and
 To assess artworks in accordance of values of art
and coordinates of art criticism.
 Why do we study humanities and arts?
 What are the different paradigms of art?
 How do we value art?
 How do we critique different artworks?

Student Objectives (learning outcomes)

 discuss the importance of humanities and the art;
 distinguish the different paradigms of arts through ages;
 evaluate art in accordance of different values of art; and
 critique artworks using the four (4) coordinates of art criticism.

Essential Q’s: (1) What is art?; and (2) How do we appreciate and value art?
