Why Study Quantum Computing? The Motivation
Training Instructor :- Srinjoy Ganguly
1. Moore’s Law - This states that number of transistors per silicon chip doubles every
year or 18 months
• Moore’s law is breaking - This means due to very small size of transistors, we have
electrical leakage which generates heat.
• The more smaller the chip goes, we start to deal with subatomic particles - Realm
of quantum computing.
• Also more transistors → more heat → Increase in cost of cooling large server rooms
4. Quantum computers are very good at solving optimization problems such as cal-
culating optimized route’s for delivery, scheduling flights, etc.
5. Quantum computers can deal with big data within seconds → Exponentially accelerate
machine learning tasks.
