“As a full-time housewife, I usually spend my leisure time busying myself with activities such as
cultivating our small store, doing household chores, and babysitting. Since I am already an elder, I must
say that a day without technology is not as convenient as compared to the days that there is a presence
of technology. Though I am accustomed to the set-up where having no technology is fine, I will not also
deny that having it gives us ease and convenience in various ways.”

“Honestly, I am not into gadgets. There are numerous activities that I shall execute in our home and
small business, and I must say that it keeps me from being distracted. However, there are moments
when I tend to feel left out because I do not have one. I guess, having a gadget is good but not for me
because my eyes are aching when it is too exposed to screen.

“I have mentioned earlier that I am cultivating our small business. Whenever power interruption strikes
in our vicinity, I am more worried because of the stored frozen foods in our refrigerator. In addition, a
day without technology is stressful given that most of my appliances are technology-based. If there is no
power interruption, my daily tasks seem to be harder”

2nd Interview session: (STUDENT)

“As a teenager, I can say that there is a huge difference between the days with technology and that of
the days without. As for me, I am more likely to be productive when I am using it but nonetheless, I must
say that using less of the things the technology can provide allows me to spend more time with my
family.”

“Since I am a student who, most of the time, engages through online platforms, a day without internet
connection is undoubtedly difficult on my part. Nevertheless, these particular moments also help me to
escape the reality for a while, meditate, and spend more quality time with my family.”

“The power interruption is a nuisance to the point that I hate it. When it occurs, I can no longer be
productive and progressive to school related tasks thus, I must say that it has a big impact to me as a
student.”

Reflection. (A Day without Technology)

The current generation is fueled by the vast technological advancements which has led to the growth
and development of life within Earth. Today, we are seeing how Science and Technology dominates and
influence how people portray their roles in our contemporary society. Considering the relevance of
technology, the researchers seek to understand how few people behave when the technology itself will
be taken away from them even just for a day. An elder, educator, and a teenager were asked to assess
how they live a day with/without technology and neither internet connectivity nor power supply. After
synthesizing their answers, we have come into few realizations.
First, we have come to realize that the impact of technology differs with each of the users. For some, the
lack of access to technology does not concern them but for others, it plays a significant role in their
personal and social life. Furthermore, we have realized that the term “technology” does not solely refers
to the use of gadgets and web but also portrays machineries that brings us ease and convenience. Given
this, we are all influenced by technology, but only differs in intensity.

Second, the absence of technology is somehow an issue especially for the teenagers of this generation
due to their academic responsibilities. The sudden change in our educational set up bring forth to the
use and utilization of online platforms such as Google Classroom, GMeet, and Zoom. Given this, students
are obliged to use technology and internet connectivity for them not to be left behind.

Third, it seems to us that technology is imperative as it helps us work with ease and convenience. It is
undeniable because we are in a fast-changing world where most of the things can be easily done with
just a snap of a finger. More so, we are grateful that we have given an opportunity to scan the
perception of people with different background as it helps us decipher and clarify few things.

Considering the present era where science is constantly evolving, continuously strengthening the
foundation of technology, and unfailingly benefitting our contemporary society, the advancements it
brought has become an integral part of our living which can no longer be separated from us.
Unconsciously, we have become reliant and overly dependent on technology as it seemingly helps us be
efficient in so many ways. Nevertheless, we have also perceived the importance of imposing tolerance
when it comes to its utilization. Because of this, we therefore conclude that we are responsible for how
dependent we are on using technology. It is us who is in charge of knowing its advantages and that of its
disadvantages. We would like to end our reflection with the quote, “…too much of everything is as
