HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING MODES

(Refer to Schematic, pages 18-19)
The 2300 series H.V.A.C. system will operate in one of the following modes:

• Cab Pressurization
• Ventilation
• Defog
• Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)

PRESSURIZE MODE
The purpose of the pressurizing motor is to keep the cab pressurized to prevent dust from
entering the cab. The pressurizing motor will run anytime the engine oil pressure B+(EOP)
relay circuit is activated. The operator does not control this operation nor feel the air
circulation within the cab. The pressurizing motor (located under the instructional seat) draws
air from outside of the cab through the cab air filter. The cab must be pressurized to a
minimum of 0.5" water. The main cab air filter is located behind the access door on the front
right side of the grain tank. See testing cab pressure later in this section.

CLIMATE CONTROL

HVAC SYSTEM, (2006)

VENTILATION MODE
Ventilation is unconditioned cab air being drawn from the inside of the cab, through the re-
circulation filter, through the evaporator/heater core and blown out through the cab vents (air
that the operator can feel). The HVAC control switch will be toggled to the OFF position,
HVAC display will not be illuminated. The temperature control will have NO effect on the
system, the ATC controller will close the water valve completely. The blower control will be
used to control the volume of air being forced out of the cab vents. The blower speed is
infinitely variable from an OFF position (counter clockwise) to a HIGH (clockwise) position.
The blower motor is located under the operator's seat. A re-circulation filter is located behind
the operator's seat.

The blower motor will respond in one of two ways:

1. If the climate control switch is in the "O" position before the key switch is turned to the
"RUN", the blower will run at the current blower control setting.
2. If climate control switch is placed in the "O" position AFTER the key switch is turned to the
"RUN" position, the blower will STOP operating. To activate the blower motor, the blower
motor speed control must be rotated approx. 30o in either direction. Once the blower
motor has been activated, the speed may be adjusted to a desired speed.

DEFOG MODE
Defog is used to clear off the windows by using the A/C to lower the humidity in the air and
using the heater to warm the air enough to dry the windows. The HVAC control switch will be
toggled to the ON position, (display illuminated) and the mode switch toggled till the Defog
position (windshield icon illuminated). The temperature control knob may be adjusted to any
setting. If the cab vent temperature is too cold the temperature control may be rotated
clockwise to provide some additional heating of the air. The cab temperature will be monitored
by the re-circulation air sensor, and be maintained at the temperature control setting by cycling
the heater valve. While operating in the defog operation the compressor will run continuously,
unless the evaporator sensor determines the evaporator is too cold and could start to freeze
up.

The ATC controller will automatically control the blower motor speed as required to maintain
the temperature desired. It will be normal for the vent temperature to be cold during early
morning start up, due to low engine temperature. If the operator reduces the blower speed
until the engine warms up, the ATC controller will disengage the auto mode of the blower
speed. The HVAC switch will have to be cycled to the OFF position and back to the ON
position to re-activate the auto blower speed.

CLIMATE CONTROL

HVAC SYSTEM, (2006)

AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE MODE (ATC)
Air conditioning cools or heats the cab air before blowing the air out through the cab vents.
The HVAC control switch is toggled to the ON position, (display illuminated), and the mode
switch togged till the “A” is illuminated. When the mode switch is in this position, an "A" will
appear on the temperature display, indicating the system is operating in the "Auto" mode. The
operator will adjust the temperature control to the desired temperature. The temperature
display will display the DESIRED cab temperature not the actual cab temperature. The
working range of the ATC system will be 160–320C (610–890F). If the cab vent temperature is
too cold the temperature control should be rotated clockwise to a higher temperature setting. If
the cab vent temperature is too warm, the temperature control should be rotated
counterclockwise to a lower temperature setting. In ATC operation it may take several
minutes for the cab temperature to stabilize. The cab temperature will be monitored at the re-
circulation filter by a temperature sensor and be maintained at the level to which the
temperature control is set. Once the cab temperature has stabilized, the controller will
maintain it within +/- 20F by controlling the blower fan speed, water valve and the compressor
if required. This will be actual cab air temperature and not A/C evaporator temperature.

IMPORTANT It is extremely important

that the re-circulation filter area behind the
operator's seat MUST not be plugged or
obstructed.

While the system is operating in the "Auto" mode the "A" will be displayed in the temperature
display window. If the cab temperature is being maintained, but the operator decides that a
different volume of air coming from the cab vents would be nice and manually adjusts the
blower speed control, the system will drop the blower motor control out of the auto mode. The
"A" will no longer be displayed. The system will still be trying to maintain the desired
temperature at the blower speed the operator has selected. To re-activate the auto mode for
the blower motor speed, the HVAC control switch MUST be cycled OFF and back to the ON
position.

The blower speed control position has no effect on blower speed when the "A" is displayed.

CLIMATE CONTROL

HVAC SYSTEM, (2006)

AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (ATC), CON'T
If the temperature control is rotated full clockwise, the display will indicate above 320C (900F),
the A/C compressor will be locked out and the water valve will be opened completely. The
system will drop out of auto mode and the "A" will not be displayed in the display window. This
will be maximum heat. When the control is rotated counter-clockwise out of the hash marks
the auto mode will be re-activated.

If the temperature control is rotated fully counter-clockwise, the display will indicate below
150C (600F), the water valve will be closed completely and the A/C compressor will be
operating full time. The system will drop out of auto mode and the "A" will not be displayed in
the display window. The evaporator sensor will prevent the system from freezing up. This will
be maximum cooling. When the control is rotated clockwise out of the hash marks the auto
mode will be re-activated.

HVAC CONTROL PANEL
BLOWER SPEED CONTROL, (1)
Operation
The blower speed control gives the
operator control over the speed of the
blower motor. Turning the blower control
knob clockwise will increase the speed of
the blower, producing more airflow out of
the cab vents, turning the control counter-
clockwise will reduce the air flow.

If the ATC control button has been pressed, the blower speed control position will have NO
effect over the blower's speed. The ATC controller will increase or decrease the blower motor
speed as needed to maintain the desired cab temperature. If the blower motor control is
adjusted while the display is illuminated, the controller will release the automatic control over
the blower motor speed. The blower motor will only operate in the manual mode if the "A" is
NOT displayed. The ATC control button must be toggled OFF and back ON to reset the
automatic blower motor operating mode. The automatic temperature control will always be
operating whether the "A" is displayed or not.

When operating in the Auto Climate or Defog mode, the blower will make a speed increase for
every 2oF difference there is between the temperature set point and the actual cab
temperature sensed by the cab temperature sensor.

If the evaporator temperature is below 80oF (26oC), and system is calling for heat the blower
speed will not be increased until the evaporator temperature has increase.

Circuit Information
The HVAC system does NOT need to be in one of the automatic operating mode for the
temperature control to work. The ATC controller connector 24 terminal 28 sends a 5V signal
to the HVAC panel connector 23 terminal C15 for the temperature control potentiometer. As
the pot is rotated the voltage is bled off to the ground through connector 23 terminal C16.

MODE CONTROL BUTTON, (4)
Operation
Once the operator has activated the ATC
control, the mode button is pressed to
toggle between AUTO and DEFOG. The
digital display window will be illuminated
with the symbol displayed. The
button toggles between two modes:
"A" = Auto, the system will warm or cool the air as needed to maintain the cab temp and the
display will be illuminated.
= Defog, the system will run the A/C compressor full time and warm the air to defog the
windows and the display will be illuminated.

Circuit Information
The ATC controller directs a voltage signal to the HVAC panel to determine if AUTO
operations has been selected and if so which mode to operate in; refer to the AUTO switch
operation previously explain in this section. For DEFOG the ATC controller directs 5V out
connector 24 terminal 25 to the HVAC panel connector 23 terminal D7. When the mode
switch is toggled to close the circuit between the DEFOG terminal and the AUTO switch’s
ground, the voltage at the ATC controller will drop to 0.0V.

HVAC CONTROL PANEL
ATC CONTROL BUTTON, (5)
Operation
The operator selects ATC Control by
pressing the left hand button one time, the
digital display window will be illuminated.
When illuminated the mode of operation
will be displayed along with the desired
temperature. The button toggles between
two modes:
"O" = OFF, the cab blower motor may be run, but the air will not be conditioned and the
display will NOT be illuminated.
"A" = Auto, the system will warm or cool the air as needed to maintain the cab temp and
the display will be illuminated.

Circuit Information
The ATC button provides a ground for the MODE selection switch. The mode button is
supplied 5V from the ATC control module to connector 23 terminal D5 for AUTO and
connector 23 terminal D7 for DEFOG circuits all the time; one of these circuits is always
directing a voltage signal to the ATC button. When the ATC button is toggled to close it to the
ground circuit the voltage on the current selected circuit from the mode switch will be bled to
the ground and the circuit will go to 0.0V. The ATC controller will see the voltage drop at
connector 24 terminal 25 OR 26 and switch the system over to operate in the ATC mode. The
ATC controller will direct out a data signal from connector 24 terminal 20 to the HVAC panel
connector 23 terminal D10.

PRESSURIZER BLOWER
Operations
The cab is kept pressurized to keep dust and dirt out with a
pressurizer blower. The pressurizer blower will run whenever there
is engine oil pressure, the operator has NO control over the
pressurizer blower operation. The cab must be pressurized to a
minimum of 0.5" H2O of pressure. The pressure may be checked
with a manometer that is used to check engine blow-by, refer to
test procedures in this section or the service manual.

Circuit Information
The motor is supplied EOP B+ power at connector 86 terminal D and a chassis ground at
connector 86 terminal A.
Location: Under the instructional seat and in the left cab wall.

BLOWER MOTOR
Operation
The blower motor is used to re-circulate air that is in the cab, through the heater/evaporator
core and sends it out through the cab vents. The blower motor does not draw air from outside
of the cab. Air is drawn through the foam re-circulation filter located behind the operator's seat.
The blower is a variable speed motor, controlled by the ATC controller and blower speed
module driver. The motor is controlled through the ground circuit to the motor.

Circuit Information
The blower motor is supplied B+ power from the cab relay, through fuse 17 at the motors
terminal 1. The motor is controlled through the ground circuit out terminal 2 to the linear driver
connector 116 terminal B.

IMPORTANT For proper A/C operation the re-circulation filter behind the operators
seat MUST be kept clean and free from obstructions.
Location: Behind the operator's seat, in front of the evaporator.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS
ATC CONTROLLER
Operations
The ATC controller is used to control the complete HVAC system. All inputs
signals are directed to the ATC controller and all controlling outputs are sent
from the controller. The controller will compare the temperature set point
against the cab temperature sensor every 0.5 seconds and make adjust as
required.

Circuit Information
The controller is supplied power from the cab relay B+ at connector 24 terminal 17 and 4, and
a chassis ground at terminal 18.

Located: Under the instructional seat mounted on the left side of the evaporator box.

BLOWER SPEED MODULE

Operations
A blower speed module controls the ground to the motor rather
then controlling the power. The blower motor speed will be
controlled manually when the ATC switch is toggled to the OFF
position, and manually or automatically when the ATC switch is
toggled to the ON position and the mode switch toggled to either
the "A" or " " position. Due to a blower speed module
operating at a high temperature it installed with the radiant pins
aimed into the evaporator discharge.

Circuit Information
The blower control module contains two connectors, connector 116 for B+, Ground and signal
wire; and a connector for the motor’s ground wire. The blower control module is supplied cab
relay B+ at connector 116 terminal A(4) and a chassis ground at connector 116 terminal E(2).
The ATC controller will send a signal from connector 24 terminal 5, to the blower speed
module connector 116 terminal D(3). The module will control the chassis ground to terminal
B(2) for the blower motor according to the signal received from the ATC controller.

WATER VALVE
Operations
The water valve controls the flow of hot engine coolant through the heater core. When the
operator requests a temperature change, the ATC controller
will activate the water valve. The water valve is not a flow by-
pass valve, it shuts OFF the flow completely. On the top of
the water valve is a round indicator that will rotate as the
water valve is operating, giving an indication that the water
valve is working.

Circuit Information
The ATC controller will control the heater valve motor as required to maintain the correct
temperature. The power is supplied from the cab relay B+ to the heater valve connector 25
terminal A (10). The water valve is provided a chassis ground at connector 25 terminal C (7).
The ATC controller connector 24 terminal 3 sends a variable voltage signal to the heater valve

Operations
The cab temperature sensor monitors the return air as it flows through
the re-circulation filter. It sends a signal to the ATC controller as to the
current cab temperature. It has a female connector. See testing
procedures later in this section.

Circuit Information
The ATC controller connector 24 terminal 21 sends 5V to the cab sensor terminal 2(A). As the
temperature at the sensor changes so does the sensor's resistance. The supply voltage from
terminal 2(A) will be bled off through the sensor to terminal 1(B), at room temperature it will be

EVAPORATOR (FREEZE) SENSOR
Operations
The evaporator sensor monitors the evaporator
temperature. The ATC controller uses the signal
to control the A/C compressor to prevent the
evaporator from freezing. The sensor's location
with in the evaporator core is very critical. The sensor MUST be located 300 mm from the left
side of the air box, between the lower second and third row of tubes, inserted completely to
the 90o bend at a 45o down angle. It has a male connector. See testing procedures later in
this section.

Circuit Information
The ATC controller connector 24 terminal 23 sends 5V to the evaporator sensor terminal 2.
As the temperature at the sensor changes so does the sensor's resistance. The supply
voltage from terminal 2 will be bled off through the sensor to terminal 1. Terminal 1 is a

SYSTEM COMPONENTS, CON'T
LOW PRESSURE SWITCH
Operations
The low-pressure switch monitors the refrigerant pressure on the suction
side of the A/C system. If the pressure drops a signal will be sent to the
ATC to de-activate the compressor. The low-pressure switch must send
4 signals with in a 60-second period before the ATC controller will lock
out the compressor. It is a N.O. switch and green in color. The switch
will be held closed during normal operation. The switch will open at 2-5 PSI and close at 18-
22 PSI.

Circuit Information
The A/C low-pressure switch is a normally open switch, and will be closed when the system is
operating normally. A 3.1V signal from the ATC Controller connector 24 terminal 35 is sent to
the low-pressure switch terminal B and a 2.5V signal from terminal 36 to terminal A at the
switch. When the switch is CLOSED, normal pressure the voltage at the ATC controller
connector 24 terminals 35 and 36 balanced at approximately 2.8V. When the pressure in the
system drops below 4 PSI, the low-pressure switch will open and the voltage on terminal 35
and 36 will become unbalanced. This signals the controller that a low pressure has occurred.
If the condition exists twice in one minute, the ATC controller will latch out the compressor
relay by deactivating the power supply from connector 24 terminal 15 and will display fault
code “02”. The fault code will alternately flash on the display with the current temperature set

point and the book symbol will appear on the display.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS
HIGH PRESSURE SWITCH
Operations
The high-pressure switch monitors the refrigerant pressure on the compressor's dis-charge
side of the A/C system. If the pressure increases above the set point of the pressure switch a
signal will be sent to the ATC to de-activate the compressor. The high-pressure switch must
send 2 signals with in a 60-second period before the ATC controller will lock out the
compressor. It is a N.C. switch and red in color. The switch will be closed during normal
operation. The switch will open at approximately 400 PSI and close at approximately 350 PSI.

Circuit Information
The A/C high-pressure switch is a normally closed switch. A 3.1V signal from the ATC
Controller connector 24 terminal 34 is sent to the high-pressure switch terminal B and a 2.5V
signal from terminal 33 to terminal A at the switch. When the switch is CLOSED, normal
pressure the voltage at the ATC controller connector 24 terminals 35 and 36 balanced at
approximately 2.8V. When the pressure in the system rises above 400 PSI, the high-pressure
switch will open and the voltage on terminal 34 and 33 will become unbalanced. The voltage
unbalance signals the controller that an over pressure has occurred. If the condition exists
twice in one minute, the ATC controller will latch out the compressor relay by deactivating the
power supply from connector 24 terminal 15 and will display fault code 01. The fault code will

alternately flash on the display with the current temperature set point and the book
symbol will appear on the display.

Located: In the engine compartment next to the compressor.

COMPRESSOR RELAY
Operations
The compressor relay is used to open or close the high amperage (3-4 Amps) circuit for the
compressor clutch. The ATC controller controls the relay.

Circuit Information
The compressor relay is provided cab relay B+ power at terminal 3, the ATC controller
connector 24 terminal 15 will be providing B+ power to activate the relay when required.
When air conditioning is called for the controller will provide power at connector 24 terminal
15, activating the relay. The compressor relay will close the contacts between terminal 3 and
5, directing 12V to the compressor clutch.

RECIRCULATION FILTER
The recirculation filter is a foam filter that is used to filter the air being drawn into the
evaporator/heater core. It is very important for proper operation of the HVAC system that the
recirculation filter area be unobstructed so the blower motor can draw air through the
evaporator core.

CAB VENTILATION
Cab ventilation is un-conditioned air flowing out of the cab vents, air that the operator can feel.

1. The operator toggles the ATC control switch to the OFF position, display panel will be
dark.
2. The operator turns the key switch to the run position.
3. The ATC controller will monitor the position of the ATC control switch to determine how it
should operate.
4. The ATC controller will close the water valve completely, and the temperature control will
have NO effect.
5. The blower motor will operate in the following matter:
a If the ATC control switch is placed in the OFF position BEFORE the key switch is
turned to the RUN position, the blower will operate at the selected speed. The
operator can adjust the blower speed as required.
b If the key switch is placed in the RUN position AND THEN the ATC control switch is
placed in the OFF position the blower motor will not operate. By placing the
ATC control switch in the OFF position, the operator is telling the ATC controller
to shut down the complete system. The blower motor will not run until the
blower motor control is rotated approximately 30o to activate it, then the operator
may adjust the blower speed as required.
6. The blower motor speed may be adjusted through out its complete range.

ELECTRICAL OPERATIONS
POWER SUPPLIES
B + ENGINE ENABLE RELAY, (EOP)
The relay sends power through a R(139) wire to fuse 22 to connector 86 terminal B to
energizes the cab pressurizer motor. The motor is grounded through connector 86
terminal A and connector 13 to the chassis.

B + Cab Relay
From the cab relay, power through a R(138) wire goes to fuse 13. Power then flows in
three directions through a R(800) wire:
• To the HVAC control panel connector 23 terminal C2
• To the ATC controller connector 24 terminals 17 and 4, and powers the water valve
• To the Compressor Relay terminal 3

B + Cab Relay
From the cab relay, power through a R(138) wire goes to fuse 17. It then continues out
through a R(820A):
• To the blower motor terminal 1
• To the Blower speed control module connector 116 terminal A(2)

GROUNDS
• Ground for the blower motor is through the blower speed control module connector
116 terminal E, located on the front left side of the evaporator housing, fastened to
one of the HVAC box (housing) attaching bolts.
• A common ground is provided to the ATC controller through connector 24 terminal
18, water valve terminal C, cab temp sensor terminal 1, evaporator temp sensor
terminal 1 through connector 109 terminal J, to the chassis through the lower cab
ground.
• The HVAC backlight is provided a ground out connector 23 terminal D14 to the
upper cab ground.
• The HVAC panel is provided a ground out connector 23 terminal connector 23
terminal C11 and C16 to connector 109 terminal U and terminal J to the lower cab
ground.
• The compressor clutch is chassis grounded at the engine.

CLIMATE CONTROL

ELECTRICAL OPERATIONS
VENTILATION
For components used refer to the previous component usage chart.

Since the ATC control switch has been toggled to the OFF position the ATC controller sees
voltage at connector 24 terminals 25 and 26, this causes the ATC controller to operate in the
ventilation mode.

The ATC controller connector 24 terminal 28 directs a signal voltage to the HVAC Control
panel terminal C15 for the Blower Speed Control. As the blower speed control is rotated the
voltage is bled off to a common ground circuit at the HVAC controller panel terminal C16. The
ATC controller monitors the varying supply voltage to the blower speed control to determine
the control's position.

The ATC controller will send a signal from terminal 5, to the blower speed module connector
116 terminal D(3). The module will control the ground according to the signal received from
the ATC controller.

The blower motor speed will be controlled manually when the climate control switch is in the
OFF position, and manually or automatically when the ATC control switch is in the ON
position.

ELECTRICAL OPERATIONS
DEFOG CONTROL
For components used refer to the previous component usage chart.

The ATC button must be toggled so that the HVAC display is illuminated, this will provide a
ground from C16 to the mode switch.

The mode control switch (ATC) receives voltage at terminal D7 from the ATC controller
terminal 25. When the switch is toggled to the defog position a connection is made from
terminal D7 to terminal C16. Terminal C16 of the HVAC control panel is grounded through the
upper cab ground. When the voltage drops on the ATC controller terminal 25, the controller
knows that the operator has selected the defog mode of operation.

1. ATC Control Button

2. Mode Button

The ATC controller terminal 15 will provide a B+ power to the A/C compressor relay terminal 2.
The relay will activate, closing the relay contacts between terminals 3 and 5. Battery voltage
will be supplied to the compressor clutch and the clutch is grounded through the engine
ground. The compressor will be engaged full time with NO respect to the cabs temperature,
only the evaporator temperature sensor can signal the ATC controller to dis-engage the clutch
if the evaporator temperature approaches a freeze level. This operation will lower the
moisture level of the cab air. The air being dis-charged through the vents will be cold.

The ATC controller connector 24 terminal 23, sends voltage to the evaporator sensor terminal
A(2). As the temperature of the sensor changes so does the sensor's resistance. The supply
voltage from terminal A(2) will be bled off through the sensor to terminal B(1). Terminal B(1) is
a common ground wire to the lower cab ground. The ATC controller uses the varying voltage
at the controller's connector 24 terminal 23 to control the ground that is being provided from
the controller terminal 15 to the compressor relay terminal 2.

56 - 35
CLIMATE CONTROL

ELECTRICAL OPERATIONS
DEFOG CONTROL, CON'T
The ATC controller, terminal 29, sends voltage to the temperature control pot. (located in the
HVAC panel), connector 23 terminal D1. As the temperature control is rotated the supply
voltage from terminal D1 will be bled off through the potentiometer to terminal C16. Terminal
C16 is a common return wire through connector 109 terminals U and J to the lower cab
ground. When the temperature control potentiometer is rotated the supply voltage on terminal
connector 24 terminal 29 will vary, this change is the voltage signal the ATC controller uses to
determine the temperature control setting. Minimum heat is provided at approximately 10
o'clock of the temperature control. Maximum heat is provided at the fully clockwise position of
the temperature control.

The ATC controller monitors the cab temperature sensor to determine the water valve's
required position to maintain the desired temperature. The ATC controller, connector 24
terminal 21, sends voltage to the cab temperature sensor terminal A(2). As the temperature of
the sensor changes so does the sensor's resistance. The supply voltage from terminal A(2)
will be bled off through the sensor to terminal B(1). Terminal B is a common ground wire
through connector 109 terminals J to the lower cab ground. The ATC controller uses the
varying voltage at the controller's terminal 21 to determine the correct position of the water
valve and speed of the blower motor.

The ATC controller will control the heater valve motor as required to maintain the correct
temperature. The heater valve connector 25 terminal 10 receives a supply voltage from the
ATC controller connector 115 terminal L. The water valve is grounded through connector 25
terminal 7. The ATC controller terminal E2 sends a variable voltage signal to the heater valve
at connector 25 terminal 8. The heater valve rotates until the valve's position matches the
signal being received from the ATC controller.

The ATC controller will send a signal from connector 24 terminal 5, to the blower speed
module connector 116 terminal B(3). The module will control the ground for the blower motor
according to the signal received from the ATC controller.

If the operator would like a faster blower speed, the blower speed control may be manually
adjusted. Once the blower motor speed has been manually adjusted, the ATC will only try to
maintain the selected cab temperature by operating the heater valve. The ATC controller,
connector 24 terminal 28, sends voltage to the Blower Speed Control potentiometer terminal
C15. As the blower speed control is rotated the voltage is bled off to terminal C16 to a
common ground through connector 109 terminals U and J to the lower cab ground. The ATC
controller monitors the varying supply voltage to the blower speed control potentiometer to
determine the control's position.

ELECTRICAL OPERATIONS
AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (ATC)
ATC module will monitor the actual cab temperature to maintain the cab’s temperature. The
difference between Defog mode and ATC mode is that the ATC controller will cycle the A/C
clutch and/or water valve as required to maintain the selected cab temperature.

The ATC button must be toggled so that the HVAC display is illuminated, this will provide a
ground from C16 to the mode switch.

The mode control switch (ATC) receives voltage at terminal D5 from the ATC controller
terminal 26. When the switch is toggled to the AUTO position a connection is made from
terminal D5 to terminal C16. Terminal C16 of the HVAC control panel is grounded through the
upper cab ground. When the voltage drops on the ATC controller terminal 26, the controller
knows that the operator has selected the defog mode of operation.

REMEMBER In ATC operation, it may take several minutes for the cab temperature
to stabilize at the temperature setting. Also, when making a temperature setting change, the
cab temperature will not change immediately.

FAULT CODES
The HVAC system will provide the technician with useful information about its condition
through two different methods
Fault Codes
When certain failures occur, the HVAC will display fault codes in the Temp. Display. The
technician can use the fault codes to help diagnose the failure quickly.
Component Testing
When certain components fail, they will operate in un-controllable modes. This operation
should help to lead the technician to the failed component.

FAULT CODES
The ATC controller provides the operator with fault codes if a component or circuit is not
performing correctly. The fault code will be displayed on the temperature display and will
alternately (flash) with the cab temperature set point. If more than one fault occurs at the
same time, those fault codes will be displayed in numerical order. The fault codes are "self
healing", meaning if the condition is corrected and the ATC controller has not latched out a
function, the fault code will be removed from the display. Refer to the fault code tables for
explanations.
