Las lineas de Nazca

We will talk about a well-known place in Peru, the Nazca lines: The Lines and Geoglyphs of Nasca
and Palpa are located in the provinces of Nasca and Palpa, Ica Region. They are zoomorphic and
anthropomorphic figures and sweeping lines or fields of great magnitude, variety and geometric
precision drawn on the flat surface of an extensive desert territory. Their presence in the natural
landscape makes it a cultural landscape with deep meaning and symbolism as they express the
magical and religious world of the pre-Hispanic Paracas and Nasca societies, who for more than
1,500 years drew them on the sands of the desert and the mountains. Today they are testimony
to the creative genius of the ancient American settlers, and to the unique concepts and forms of
religious expression that they developed throughout their history. This world heritage is one of
the most extraordinary and incomparable works of man.
Chavin de huantar

Year of inscription on the World Heritage List: 1994.

Chavín de Huántar or Chavín culture is an archaeological culture of Ancient Peru that developed
during the Early Horizon (1200 BC-400 BC)12 It had its center of development in the city of Chavín
de Huántar, which is located 2 km from the confluence of the Huachecsa and Mosna rivers, in the
upper basin of the Marañón river (in the current department of Áncash).
The concept of "chavín culture" should not be confused with an artistic spectrum called
"chavinoid", which encompasses expressions prior to Chavín itself.

Machu Pichu
Machu Picchu was declared a Peruvian Historic Sanctuary in 1981 and has been on the UNESCO
World Heritage List since 1983, as part of a whole cultural and ecological complex known under the
name Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary. On July 7, 2007, Machu Picchu was declared one of the new
seven wonders of the modern world in a ceremony held in Lisbon (Portugal), which was attended
by one hundred million voters around the world. Machu Picchu was voted one of the New Seven
Wonders of the World in a worldwide internet poll.
