What This Module is About

Welcome to this module learners!

On this module, the learner will learn the techniques in using computer application like
hyperlinking in presentations. In order to learn all of this, learners will be guided by step-by-
step activities.

At the end of this module, you should be able to:


 Understand the use(s) of productivity tools.
 Perform hyperlink in PowerPoint presentation.
 Appreciate the usage of productivity tools.

A Hyperlink which is frequently stated to as "links" is a text or image on the screen that
you can click-on to jump to another file or within the
existing file.

When you hover your pointer over a hyperlink,


either it is text or an image, the arrow changes to a
small pointing hand, called hyperlink cursor.

It is usually activated by clicking on the text or


image. Text hyperlinks are usually in color blue and
underlined.

Hyperlinks have to basic parts:

1. The Address – can be webpage, email address, or other location they are linking.
2. The Display – can be picture or shape.

Example:
• https://www.microsoft.com - address
• Microsoft - display text
• https://www.microsoft.com - address at the same time display
text

Inserting hyperlinks

Hyperlinks in PowerPoint allow you to link to another slide in the current presentation,
another slide in a different presentation, another file or webpage, or email address.

To insert hyperlink, do the following:


1. Select the text or object you want to insert a hyperlink to.
2. Click the Insert tab.
3. On the Links group, click Hyperlink. Insert Hyperlink dialog box will appear.

To insert a hyperlink to another slide in the current presentation, do the following:


a. Click Place in This Document.
b. You may also add a text to display when you hover your pointer by clicking the
ScreenTip button. Set Hyperlink Screen Tip dialog box will appear.
c. Enter text to the ScreenTip text box.
d. Click the slide where you want to link to under the Select a place in this document.
e. Click OK.

To insert a hyperlink to another slide in a different presentation, do the following:


a. Click Existing File or Webpage.
b. Browse and select for the
PowerPoint file.
c. Click the Bookmark button.
d. Click the slide where you want to
link to under the Select an existing
place in the document.
e. Click OK.

To insert a hyperlink to another file, do the following:


a. Click Existing File or Webpage.
b. Browse and select for the PowerPoint file.
c. Click OK.

To insert a hyperlink to a website, do the following:
1. Opening PowerPoint Program. (Click Start button, type PowerPoint and

2. Select the text, shape, or picture that you want to use a hyperlink.

3. Select Insert tab and in the Links group,

4. Select Existing File or Web page, and choose

 Text to display: type the text that you
want to appear as hyperlink.
 ScreenTip: Type the text that you want to
appear when the user hovers over the
hyperlink (optional).

 Current Folder, Browsed Pages, or


Recent Files: Select where you want to
link to.
 Address: if you
haven’t already
selected a location
above, insert the URL
for the website you
want to link.

5. Click OK

Link a slide in the same presentation


1. Opening PowerPoint program. (click Start button, type PowerPoint and press Enter)
2. Select the text, shape, or picture that you
want to use as a hyperlink.
3. Select Insert tab > Links group, click Link
button and select an option:
 Place in This Document: Link to a specific
slide in your presentation.
 Create New Document: Link from your
presentation to
another presentation.
 E-mail Address: Link
a displayed email
address to open up a
user's email program.
4. Fill in the Text to display,
ScreenTip, and where
you want to link to.
5. Click OK

Change the part of a hyperlink

You can also change the color of a hyperlink. If


you want to change the display text of a link to
blue or any other color.

1. Select the hyperlink you want to re-color.


2. On the Home tab of the ribbon, select down
arrow next to the Font Color button to open the
menu of colors.
3. Select the appropriate color that you want for
the hyperlink.
