The Stealth® range of safety masks designed and developed in the UK by AFS represents
a new generation of respiratory protection equipment. Stealth like characteristics offer a
lightweight and compact solution with safety, technology & design at the forefront. Sleek
unobtrusive design accommodates welding visors, helmets, goggles & hearing protection.
Large Downward facing exhaust valves are a design feature prominent in all Stealth® face
masks. This enables the air to exhale away from any goggles, visors or spectacles ensuring

Dust is formed when a solid material is broken down into tiny fragments.
This normally occurs when materials are modified carrying out tasks such
as sanding, cutting & grinding. The finer the dust the greater risk it presents.

Mists are tiny droplets that form from liquid materials. Formed by processes
that involve atomisation (separating something into fine particles) &
condensation, such as spraying.

Fumes are formed by the vaporisation of solid materials by the application

of high heat. Fine particles form when the vapour cools quickly and
condenses. This normally occurs in many welding applications.

APF is a term to define how well a respirator/filter combination will protect an individual from
external contaminants. APF’s are used to select the appropriate level of respirators that will provide
the necessary level of protection.

To determine the required APF you have to divide the level of concentration by the Workplace
Exposure Limit (WEL) the local legislation allows.

APF factor can be determined to help understand whether a respirator/filter combination is

adequate using the calculation below to find the required protection factor - RPF:

RPF= Measured level of contamination ÷ Exposure limit for contaminate

RPF= 350mg/m³ ÷ 50mg/m³ = 7

Based on the above case a respiratory device with an APF of minimum 10 would be required.
**Both Stealth Lite Pro FFP3V R D & Stealth P3 R D safety respirators would be more than adequate
at APF20.The use of HEPAC(R) & HEPAC-Lite(R) filter media in all Stealth(R) masks developed

FACE FIT TESTING

Face fit testing is the method used to ensure that a face mask is correctly fitted so that there is no inward
leakage of unfiltered air via the edges of the mask. One objective of the test is to confirm that the wearer
knows how to correctly fit the mask by adjusting the straps as well as to validate its performance on the user.
The second objective is to verify that the wearer uses a product type or size that fit him correctly.

There are two main methods:

QUALITATIVE
The test subject dons the appropriate RPE,
then places a hood over their head creating a
chamber. Solution, such as, Bitrex is sprayed
into the hood whilst the test subject carries out
a number of exercises. The solution should only
be tasted if the RPE is poorly fitted.
QUANTITATIVE
The subject is tested via a portacount that will
measure the number of particles in the atmosphere
versus the number of particles inside the mask, this
allows you to calculate a Fit Factor. This type of test
also allows you to accurately compare various models
of respirators suitability.

STEALTH PORTACOUNT
ADAPTOR
Stealth PortaCount adaptor allows for non-
destructive Quantitative fit testing. Quantitative fit
testing uses a PortaCount that measures the number
of particles in the atmosphere versus the number of
particles inside the mask. This type of test allows you
to accurately compare respirator suitability.
