are learning. The lesson will be about 15 minutes per day for the video part and then about 5 to 10
minutes for the letter per child per day with the letter they are learning that week. The whole lesson
to get through the alphabet would take 260 minutes long to get through all the videos and about
260 minutes to get through the iPad lessons.

Preparation of What preparation is needed? Making sure the videos for the letters are loaded and ready. The letter of the week
materials and is known. Making sure the kids know what “ASL” means. The area around the smartboard is clear. The iPads
environment are charged.

What materials will be used? The smartboard, and the iPads. The website Abcya.

How will the learning environment be set up? The rug will be in front of the smartboard so they can watch the
videos. The iPad will be set up at a circle table ready with the letter on the screen.
Instructional Procedures: (This will be one of the most detailed sections of this assignment).

Describe the instructional steps that will be taken to implement the lesson. For each section of the lesson, document
how much time it will take and what students are expected to do. Make sure to cite your uses of technology as often
as possible.

Please take the time to provide a clear narrative as to how the lesson will unfold.

Day 1:
First 10 minutes: Introductory activity- Students will gather around the rug and sit down on their spot towards the
smartboard. I will then explain to them about the video and what letter they will be learning that day. I will explain
that there will be two videos one that they will learn their letter. Then the next video will be the video that they will
learn the letter in sign language where Jack Hartmann will have the See the letter, Say the letter, and sign the letter.
20 minutes: I will be watching the student on the iPad doing the letter of the day on Abcya and helping them if
needed. Students will be working on their letters and learning what they sound, look like, and how to write them.
The students and I will be working together to be learning their letters in different ways through technology.

Day 2:

Review of the letter from the first day. We will sit down on the rug around the smartboard. We will repeat the “ASL”
video and have the students review that. Then the child that did not get through the Abcya website will finish up on
that. If there are not many kids that have to do the website we will do the letters on the smartboard with then
smartboard pens.

This is a great website for the student to learn their different letters on. It even comes with the printable options for
parents at home that do not want to the child to use the tablet. It also is for multiple ages, so it grows with them.

Differentiated Instructional Support: Describe how instruction can be differentiated (changed or altered) to meet the
needs of gifted or accelerated students: This might be an extra challenge because not every student is going to be
able to write and do the activity, but all the students would be able to sit and watch the videos.

Discuss additional activities you could do to meet the needs of students who might be struggling with the material: I
would be able to do something that is not technology based like matching letter colors, or even find an app that
would meet the needs of the student.
Vocabulary: Alphabet, the letter of the day is “ “, What is ASL?

For teachers Smartboard, Internet access, YouTube access, projector, iPads, and Jack Hartmann videos.

For students The students will need a smartboard and iPads to complete this lesson.
