G-MEET LINK: https://meet.google.com/etv-wvwi-qrm
TIME AND DATE: DECEMBER 06, 2021 (11:00 AM- 12:00 PM)
PLATFORM: Google Meeting
Our group has decided to meet this Monday December 06 because all of us had something to
do during the weekends and the time allotted for us last meeting was used to solve the problems
individually , then just discuss it when we have the g-meet to be able to see where our group
members were hard in. As we progressed and met up on the 11th of December 6th, we discussed
each item and together we share dour answers and the things that we had a hard time to
understand in. Each member was assigned a number to work on and was also suggested to try to
do the other numbers to be able to check if they would do it. Continuous discussion was done
with sufficient explanation to be able to master the topic and answer confidently the answers
soon in the quiz to come about the topic. It took our group about less than an hour to finish the
discussion and group study with everyone, learning something from the discussion. All of the
members contributed with the group and efficiently gave answers to the different assigned
numbers. Though there was some tricky questions, as a group, we discussed it with our gained
knowledge to be able to answer them with understanding. A second round of checking was also
done to be able to make sure that we haven’t miscalculated anything from the given set of
interest problems. Over all, I could say that everyone has understood the topic with confidence
and was able to solve them with ease just with enough time and more reviewing on their part.
PROBLEMS WITH ANSWERS:
1. Find the simple interest and amount on P12, 000.00 for 2 years and 8 months at 12% simple
interest rate.
Given:
PRINCIPAL= 12,000 Pesos
RATE= 12% or 0.12%
TIME= 2 8/12
Required:
Interest
Equation:
I = Prt
A = P+I
Solution:
I = 12,000 × 0.12 × 2 8/12
= Php 3,840
A = P12,000+P3,840
= Php 15, 840
Answer:
Simple Interest=Php 3,840
Total Amount= Php 15, 840
2. Find the ordinary and exact interests on P90, 000.00 at 8% for 120 days.
Given:
PRINCIPAL= 90,000 Pesos
RATE= 8% or 0.08%
TIME= 120 days
Required:
Ordinary and Exact Interest
Equation:

Io = (P) (R) ( 360
)

Ie = (P) (R) ( 365
)
Solution:
120
Io = (90,000) (0.08) (360)
Io = Php 2,400
120
Ie = (90,000) (0.08) (365)
Ie = Php 2,367.1233
Answer:
Ordinary Interest=Php 2,400
Exact Interest= Php 2,367.12
3. Maria wants to raise P54, 205.00 at the end of 5 years. Find the amount she should invest if
money earns 11% simple interest.
Given:
AMOUNT= 54, 205.00 Pesos
RATE= 11% or 0.11%
TIME= 5 years
Required:
Principal
Equation:
A= P(1+rt)
Solution:
54, 205=P(1+(0.11)(5))
54, 205= P(1.55)
P=54,205/1.55
= 34, 970.97
I= Prt
=(34,970.97)(0.11)(5)
=P 19, 234. 0335
Answer:
P34, 970.97 is the money she should invest
4. Jessica wanted her P8, 000.00 to earn P1, 080.00 at 9% simple interest. How long should she
invest the money?
Given:
PRINCIPAL= P8, 000.00
RATE= 9% or 0.09%
INTEREST= P1, 080.00
Required:
Time
Equation:
t = I/Pr
Solution:
t = 1, 080.00/(8, 000.00 x 0.09)
= 1.50 years
0.50x12= 6
Answer:
1 year and 6 months
5. What is the simple interest rate if Joshua paid P21, 500.00 after 2 years and 6 months on a
P13, 250.00 loan?
Given:
PRINCIPAL= P13, 250.00
TIME= 2 years and 6 months or 2 6/12
INTEREST= P21, 500.00-P 13,250.00= P8, 250
Required:
Simple Interest Rate
Equation:
r= I/Pt
Solution:
r= 8,250/(13,250 x 2 6/12)
= 0.25% or 25%
Answer:
0.25% or 25%
7. Discount P26, 000 for 160 days at a simple interest rate of 8%.
Given:
AMOUNT = P26, 000.00
160
TIME= 160 days or 365  = 0. 438356 years
INTEREST RATE= 8% or 0.08 %
Required:
Principal
Equation:
P= A/(1+rt)
Solution:
P= 26,000/(1+ 0.08% x 0.438356)
= 25, 119.11
Answer:
P 25, 119.11
8. Mark can buy a motorcycle now for P70, 720.00 but probably for P75, 580.00 next year.
Would he save if he deposits P 70,720 in a time deposit at 12% for a year and buy the
motorcycle next year?
Equation:
I=Prt; F=I+P
JANELLE GALAM:
When we solved the problems, we followed the formulas given in the lesson and
checked the answers by solving it backwards. Although there were some confusions
made throughout the brainstorming, we eventually found the right solutions. We also
explained every problem, how to get their solutions and ways to solve it by switching
which value is the required item such as the original problem required the principal
amount, we checked the problem by finding the interest. We learned a lot during this
discussion and helped each other out when there are some things we didn't
understand.
ASHLEY ROLA:
When we had our group study, we discussed the problems that we solved and
checked our answers by computing other given to see if the answers are correct. Some
of the items were confusing because we didn't understand the problem, but eventually,
we found out the correct answers. We also explained how to answer each problem for
us to learn how to compute the answer. When there were some things we didn't
understand, we helped each other to find out what to do. We learned a lot during our
group study.
ASHLEY PESCASIO:
As a group, We work together and we shared our knowledge about simple
interest to enable better and faster decision making. The first thing we did was talk
about what the plan would be and we decided to split the tasks to make it easier. As a
member of our group I did what I chose to answer and I encountered that it is not easy
to resolve when you are not familiar about the problem. But to overcome this, I
applied what our CI taught to us and researched other information to gain more
knowledge. after that, our leader made sure that we finished our part and we set a time
for us to talk through G-meet to assured that all we did was right and to discuss and
understand the problems that given to us.
KATHRYN CACATIAN:
This study group program is very effective for enhancing our learning. This is
because every group member share their insights in the problem that was given. When
we were solving/analyzing the problems we faced some confusions in some situations.
But because of my other members and the brainstorming that we did we eventually
understood it. Being part in this study group helps me to avoid procrastination and
learn things from my group members.
ARA JOAQUIN:
Before we solve all the problems that has given to our group, we first make sure
to read all the problems carefully and ensuring that we have understood all of it
correctly and we also make sure that we followed all the formulas given in the lesson
so that we can be able to know what we need to do to solve all of the problems. But I
feel a little bit confused while solving the problems that our leaders have given
because I am not good at mathematics but with the help of my group mates especially
our leader, I can now be able to understand and solved correctly. Even I feel confused
while solving I can say that I enjoyed this activity because I've learned a lot in it.
ELOISA GARCIA:
The Student Study groups can help us to learn course material in a deeper, more
concrete way. Groups that are effective generate positive energy, encourage active
participation, instill discipline, and require commitments from members. These skills
are certainly important for learning.
RONABELLE BUTAG:
For me, the student study group program is such a good way, in order for us, as
student to share our thoughts to solve each given problem.
