Remote Visual Inspection, using flexible or rigid instruments, Olympus, the world leader in Remote Visual Inspection,

is a well established technique for checking equipment works closely with manufacturers to ensure the optimum
condition without costly stripdown and re-assembly. instrument specifications. Application advice and the highest
level of support is available from over 70 offices and agents
As well as contributing to safety, significant cost savings
throughout the world.
can be made through increased plant efficiency, reduced
maintenance and increased availability of equipment.

Internal Combustion Engine Applications

Remote Visual Inspection can be applied beneficially to many engines used for:

Power generation Ferries Trucks Fire engines

Patrol boats Standby generators Tractors & harvesters Boats
Fluid pumping Cranes Locomotives Cars & taxis
Gas turbine starters Winches Military vehicles Submarines
Gas compression Buses Cargo ships Motorcycles
CHP systems Tankers Automobiles Plus many more

Flexible videoscopes are highly portable

instruments which incorporate a high resolution
CCTV camera built in to the distal end of the
scope. These instruments provide images of
excellent quality whilst retaining the flexibility of
a fiberscope to be used when straight line axis
for insertion is not available. Viewing is
by means of a high resolution LCD monitor
allowing multiple viewing. Additional features
can include defect measurement, image and
movie recording.

Rigid borescopes are simple instruments

incorporating the highest quality optical lens
system to be used with straight line axis. Viewing
is typically by eye, although these instruments
can be connected to still image or CCTV
cameras for multiple viewing and recording
purposes.

Flexible fiberscopes are simple instruments

to be used when straight line axis for insertion
is not available. Viewing is typically by eye,
although these instruments can be connected to
still image or CCTV cameras for multiple viewing
and recording purposes.
Accessories are available for all instruments
to enhance the inspections.

Other Technologies Available from Olympus

In addition to Remote Visual Inspection, Olympus

offers a variety of technologies and instruments for a
wide range of inspection requirements. These include
ultrasonic technology for sub-surface defect detection,
from simple hand held machines to Phased Array and
Eddy Current technology for near surface defect
detection and material thickness, plus automatic
inspection systems.
Additionally, microscopes are available for field and
laboratory use.

Global Support from Olympus

Olympus Corporation have offices and support

centres around the world providing sales and
service support for their entire product range.
Repair facilities are set up to provide rapid
response to customers requirements.
