the family
The family resides in a Las Pnias City subdivision. The home is a two-story townhouse constructed of concrete with a total floor size
of 80 square meters (L=10m, W=4m), 40 square meters on each level. It features a door with the same dimensions for the emergency
escape at the back and one main door with those proportions for a height of 2 m and a width of 1.0 m. There are a living room, a
kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. The son and daughter both sleep in the same bedroom and the parents were in separate
rooms. Mosquitoes, roaches, and rats are the most prevalent vectors that affect the family's environment, and the backyard contains
a lot of plants and is used for the storage of various items like bottles, furniture, and household utensils. As a result, there are breeding
or resting sites for disease vectors. Nothing in the home's environment poses a threat of harm to its occupants. Leftovers are placed
on plates, wrapped in cling film (or food plastic wrap), and stored in the fridge. Our mother cooks the family's meals on a gas stove.
She also remarks on how pleasant it is to work in the kitchen, which serves as her so-called office as she always wanted to prepare a
lot for the family. Every piece of silverware and knife in the kitchen has a specific location. Meralco is the primary source of electricity,
and Maynilad is the primary water delivery system. The family does choose mineral water as their drinking water. The family owns the
restroom facility, and it is clean and well-equipped. The restroom's size is adequate for the number of family members. The community
has provided the access to sewage, drainage, and well systems. As a result, the family doesn’t experience any flooding. Additionally,
they have a system in place for once-weekly garbage collection. Other than that, the mother stated that she is accustomed to properly
segregating the household's trash, placing glass bottles in one rice bag and plastic waste in another. Due to the subdivision's urban
and modernized setting, the area was open and free of risks, environmental issues, and noise. Hospitals such as the UPHSD hospital
and the Pamplona Memorial Health Center are a half-hour drive from the subdivision and are available to the family nearby at the
Barangay Health Center, which is 2 km away. Tricycles and jeeps as well as buses are widely available for commuters, but our family
has always maintained a private vehicle.
