• Ujjwala diwas on 1st May : Pradhan

household.

• President colour award : Assam Police is
all set to be bestowed with the prestigious
President’s Colour Award as a recognition of
exemplary and dedicated service to the nation
It is the highest honour that can be given to
any ‘military unit’ of the country. The
presentation of this award is an
acknowledgment of the unit’s praiseworthy
service.
• A special flag, ‘Nishaan’, is given to a unit as
part of the award.
• An ambulance service for sick and
injured cows was inaugurated in
Assam's Dibrugarh district :
The service, to be run by Gopal Gaushala,
The 'gaushala' or chow shelter had also set up
a hospital for cows here in 2020.
• Oil India Limited signed an MoU with Digboi
Forest Division, Assam Forest Department :
Project on Carbon Sequestration, Restoration
of Degraded Forest Land in Upper Dihing
Reserved Forest (west block) under Digboi
Forest Division.
Under OIL’s CSR project Vasundhara.
• New Army chief : Gen Manoj Pande took
charge as the 29th Chief of the Army Staff
after incumbent Gen MM Naravane retired
from service.
Gen Pande was heading the Eastern Army
Command that takes care of guarding the Line
of Actual Control (LAC) in Sikkim and
Arunachal Pradesh sectors.
• President Ram Nath Kovind attended
the 61st annual conference of Bodo
Sahitya Sabha at Tamulpur, Assam:
It was founded under the presidency and
leadership of Joy Bhadra Hagjer, at Basugaon,
in the district of Kokrajhar, Assam on 16
November 1952.
• Dehing Patkai National Park:
It is 7th National park of Assam
Location – Dibrugarh and Tinisukia districts
Area – 234.26 sq km
Wildlife sanctuary On 9 June 2021 Forest
Department of Assam officially notified it as a
national park.
Dehing Patkai National Park harbours the
largest stretch of lowland rainforests in India
on 13 June 2004.
Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary was declared
as Dehing Patkai Elephant Reserve under
Project Elephant.
Dehing Patkai National Park is known as
Jeypore Rainforest. And organised a rainforest
festival at Lekhapani.
• HS200 Solid Rocket Booster for
Gaganyaan Mission: ISRO has completed
the static test of the human-rated solid rocket
booster (HS200) for Gaganyaan programme.
• Gaganyaan is a mission by the ISRO schedule
to be launched in 2023 In 2019, ISRO and the
Glavkosmos signed a contract for the training.
• Recently, the Government has announced a
new organisation, IN-SPACe, part of reforms
to increase private participation in the space
sector.
• Chandrayaan-3 Mission: India has planned a
new moon mission named Chandrayaan-3. It
is likely to be launched in 2022.
• Shukrayaan Mission: The ISRO is also planning
a mission to Venus, tentatively called
Shukrayaan.
• International tea day: It is observed
annually on May 21, according to the United
Nations.
 Adopted on December 21, 2019 and calls on
the United Nations Food and Agriculture
Organization to lead the observance of the
Day.

• QUAD group : The Quadrilateral Security
Dialogue (QSD) is a strategic security dialogue
between Australia, India, Japan, and the
United States that is maintained by talks
between member countries.
• Rajiv Kumar elected as a new Chief

Rajiv Kumar takes charge as 25th Chief
Election Commissioner,

Term length - 6 years or up to 65 years of age
