Solving equations of 2 variables
Solve for x and y
x+ y = 5
x -y =1

We can solve using 2 methods

Method 1: Substitution Method 2 : Elimination

Let x + y = 5….(1) Eqn (1) + Eqn (2)
Let x - y = 1…..(2) 2x = 6 as y gets cancelled
y = 5-x from (1) x=3
Sub in (2) the result of above Sub it in (2) we get
x - ( 5-x) = 1 3-y =1
x -5+ x =1 3-1 =y
2x -5 = 1 y =2
2x =6 So x =3 and y =2
x =3
Using (1) 3 + y = 5
=> y =5 -3 m So x =3 and y =2
