Repair blisters, cuts, tears, snags and abrasions that damage but do not penetrate the outer
reinforcement plies (No Fabric Damage) as follows.
1. Trim away loose, damaged or blistered outer coating.

WARNING
Acetone (WP 4872, Item E20 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Acetone,
technical]) is extremely flammable. It can be toxic. Avoid inhaling. Use only with
adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Keep away from heat,
spark, or open flame. In case of contact, immediately flush skin or eyes with water for
at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention for eyes. Consult your local
safety/industrial hygiene personnel and the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for specific
requirements about components, reactivity, physical hazards, spill procedures, health
hazards, first aid procedures, and Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE).

2. Clean damaged area using a clean cloth dampened with acetone (WP 4872, Item E20
[EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Acetone, technical]). Wear goggles (WP 4872, Item
E235 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Goggles, industrial]) and gloves (WP 4872,
Item E231 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Gloves, Chemical and Oil Protective]).

3. Buff surface around damage 3/4 inch larger in all directions than damaged area (Figure 2,
Item 1). Use portable drill (Figure 2, Item 2), abrasive arbor, and/or abrasive paper (WP 4872,
Item E2 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Abrasive paper, silicone carbide, waterproof
180-grit]). Buff only to remove gloss without excessively reducing outer coating thickness.
4. Clean buffed area. Use a cloth (WP 4872, Item E134 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS,
Cloth, nonwoven]) dampened with acetone (WP 4872, Item E20 [EXPENDABLE AND
DURABLE ITEMS, Acetone, technical]). Wear goggles (WP 4872, Item E235 [EXPENDABLE
AND DURABLE ITEMS, Goggles, industrial]) and gloves (WP 4872, Item E231
[EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Gloves, Chemical and Oil Protective]).

WARNING
Adhesive (WP 4872, Item E34 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Adhesive]) is
flammable and toxic. It can irritate skin and cause burns. Use only with adequate
ventilation. Keep away from heat, sparks, or open flame. Avoid contact with skin,
eyes, or clothing. In case of contact, immediately flush skin or eyes with water for at
least 15 minutes. Get medical attention for eyes. Consult your local safety/industrial

5. Prepare repair adhesive (WP 4872, Item E34 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS,
Adhesive]). Wear goggles (WP 4872, Item E235 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS,

Goggles, industrial]) and gloves (WP 4872, Item E231 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE
ITEMS, Gloves, Chemical and Oil Protective]).

CAUTION
Unmixed adhesive will not cure.

6. Stir adhesive mixture with tongue tongue depressor (WP 4872, Item E504 [EXPENDABLE
AND DURABLE ITEMS, Tongue depressor (wood spatula)]) for approximately 5 minutes.
Make certain components are completely blended together.

7. Carefully apply a thin uniform coat of adhesive mixture (Figure 3, Item 3) over buffed area
(Figure 3, Item 4) to no more than 1/4 inch of OD of buffed area. Use a brush. Smooth surface
with gloved fingers wet with acetone (WP 4872, Item E20 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE
ITEMS, Acetone, technical]). Remove any excess adhesive from unbuffed area. Use clean
cloth (WP 4872, Item E132 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Cloth, glass]) dampened
with acetone (WP 4872, Item E20 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS, Acetone,
technical]). Wear goggles (WP 4872, Item E235 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE ITEMS,
Goggles, industrial]) and gloves (WP 4872, Item E231 [EXPENDABLE AND DURABLE
ITEMS, Gloves, Chemical and Oil Protective]).

CAUTION
Do not flex fuel cell in repair area.

8. Allow finished repair to set for 1 hour before moving fuel cell.
QA 9. Allow finished repair to air cure for 24 hours at room temperature of 70°F (33°C) minimum
before use.
