1 Introduction

1.1 Objective
The objective of this document is to define general technical requirements for the
components subject to outside environment.

1.2 Scope
This specification covers the family of components that have the same environmental
conditions due to their position in the tractor assembly, i.e. exterior environment.

Each component fitted in this area has to conform to this document and its drawing or
relevant specification should mention it.

Some components, due to their specific function, have to comply with complementary
requirements indicated on part drawing or part specification. In this case, these requirements
supplant the requirements defined in this document.

2 Color & Appearance

2.1 Color
ƒ Painted parts

Paint of the painted parts shall conform to AGCO paint specification asked for part
considered (i.e. color, reference class and technical requirements). Information is to be found
on part drawing and/or on part order.

Note: all AGCO paint specifications are linked to the general paint specification GD10000101
– Global paint.

Delivered painted parts made with non-metallic materials shall conform to the requirements
described in AGCO document CMS M1001 – Plastic Parts Delivery Performance
Specification.

ƒ Non painted parts

Definition of the color is to be written on the drawing of the part considered. Color
requirement is defined preferably with a matching system (i.e. Pantone, RAL).

In case color is not defined with a matching system, L*a*b* scale has to be used for the
determination of the color.

2.2 Surface appearance

Visual appearance shall be as following: part surfaces have to be regular, without
abnormal distortions of the shape or lack of material. Significant internal defects of material
(i.e. cracks, porosities, inclusions, sand holes…) affecting in any cases the mechanical
function of the part and when suitable its machinability or its paintability are not allowed.

3 Thermal & Humidity resistance

Part shall be resistant to an exterior temperature range comprised between -30°C and +70°C
without degradation of any functions of the part (i.e. mechanical, electrical…).

ƒ Test procedure
Cycle test:
• (+40 ± 1)°C, (95 ± 5)% relative humidity, 16h
• (-20 ± 1)°C, humidity not controlled, 3h
• (+70 ± 1)°C, dry heat, 6h
Between each phase of the cycle: temperature variation of 2°C per minute (no thermal
shock).

Run cycle 4 times.

At the end of the test leave parts 24 hours at (+23 ± 1)°C, (50 ± 5)% relative humidity before
taking any measurement.

ƒ Requirement
After test part should operate properly. There also shall be no significant physical changes,
i.e.:
- material properties: maximal tensile strength variation: ± 30%
- maximal dimensional variations: ± 2.5%
- no distortion of the shape
- no change of the visual appearance of the part (cracks for example).

Depending on the position of the component in the tractor assembly, other maximal and
minimal temperatures of test can be defined. In this case the part drawing or relevant
technical specification would precise it.

4 Wash
Part shall withstand a power wash without damage or degradation. Spray the test part for 2
minutes with a water temperature of 50°C. Use a slightly alkalic washing liquid (pH 10 to 11),
a water jet of 115bar with the spray nozzle held a distance of 0.5m from the component
surfaces.

5 Corrosion resistance
Corrosion resistance is defined as following: part shall be resistant to corrosion in order to
remain fully operational during its useful life.

Parts with a specified finish (painting, surface finish as zinc plating for example) mentioned
on the drawing part shall comply with specification of that finish.

Note: ISO 10289 standard is to be used as a preferred way for the evaluation of part
deterioration due to corrosion.

6 Chemical resistance
Chemical brush test shall be conducted in accordance with ISO 15003 Section 5.10, using
chemicals indicated below:

Petroleum based chemicals:

- Diesel Fuel
- Hydraulic Oil: according to CMS M1145 (Terrac Extra 10W40)

Agricultural chemicals (phytosanitary products):

- Ammonia solution 20%
- Liquid lime saturated
- Herbicide: Round Up

Synthetic:
- Fertilizer: NPK chemical fertilizer 20 10 20
- Hay Preserve: sulphuric acid 1%

Others:
- Anti freeze agent: 52% ethyl glycol, 48% water
- Windscreen washer fluid
- Alcohol
- Urea solution AUS 32 according to ISO 22241-1 or DIN 70070 (i.e. AdBlue®).

There shall be no alteration of any functions of the component (i.e. electrical, mechanical).
There must be no material damage (i.e. blistering, holes, corrosion…), discolouration (colour
change or loss of transparency), swelling or surface change (sticky surface for example).

Depending of the components considered and their position in the tractor, some chemical
products could be added or removed from this list. In this case the part drawing or relevant
technical specification would precise it.

7 Light resistance

7.1 Solar resistance

Part assembled in outside environment with direct exposition to sunlight shall resist to solar
radiations without material damage or alteration of any of its function.

7.2 Ageing resistance

ƒ Painted parts

Light resistance of painted parts shall conform to the requirements described in AGCO
document GD1000101 – Global Paint.

ƒ Non painted parts

Light resistance shall answer the requirements of the AGCO document FTS915573 part 2.

8 Mechanical Vibrations
Each component of the installation is in a vibratory environment and consequently has to
pass to a vibration test without degradation of any function.

8.1 Embossment Ring Test

Test procedure: The test is defined as following:
- part is positioned in the tractor (using its bindings)
- tractor is weighted with 95 kg per kW (70 kg per horsepower) if there is a front linkage
– 81.5kg per kW (60 kg per horsepower) if there is no front linkage ; with the following
weight sharing out: 40% at the front / 60% at the back
- the entire tractor drives on an embossment ring at 8 km/h
- height of the embossments: 125 mm
- number of embossments get over: 100 000

Requirement: no alteration of any functions of the component is admitted.

8.2 Vibration Test Bench

In case that it is not possible to validate the component using the above test, a vibration
test bench can be defined. Please refer to the part drawing or its relevant specification for the
description of the test procedure.
