Opportunity Explanation

1.PRINTING BUSINESS Nowadays, mostly everything is high-tech. People


tend to do printing for work, school, etc. This
means that the demand for printing has increased
in the past decade. In our community, people did
not have easy access to printing stores. You still
have to ride a vehicle to reach the printing store.
This is a good business opportunity in our
community. People, especially students, don't
have to go far for printing, plus the entrepreneur
will have more customers since it's the only store
that has a printing business in our community. In
addition, printed products such as tarpaulins,
cards, flyers, and customized items have been
used by Filipinos. They use it for birthdays,
weddings, campaigns, and the like.

2.CAFE OR COFFEE STAND You can have this kind of business out of a small
kiosk or even a mobile cart, making it easy to set
up shop almost anywhere. This is convenient for
people in our community for numerous reasons.
It could be because they’re coffee-lovers or maybe
enjoy going to or visiting cafes to relax and
interact with their friends. One of the obvious
reasons why they go to cafes is to boost their
mood and concentration while studying and doing
work. That's why this can be considered as a good
business opportunity that can be established in
our community.
3.THRIFT SHOP Many people love wearing outfits that they call
"aesthetic outfits," especially in this
fashion-conscious generation. As we've observed
nowadays, the people not just in our community
are very particular when it comes to their clothes
but unfortunately, some couldn’t afford the
branded ones that they like. Thrift shops which
are also known as “ ukay-ukay” in the Philippines
are a good alternative for people who have a
limited budget but want to dress well. This is
where the thrift shop comes in. The fact that thrift
shop prices are cheap means you can still find
brand-new-looking clothes. Thus,
fashion-conscious people don't have to worry as
much about money they need to spend just to
dress well; they can easily go to a thrift shop and
purchase clothes that are cheap and will surely
make them look good.

OPPORTUNITY BUSINESS NUMBER 1

We decided to rate the relevance as 5 because it aligned with our goal, which is to provide easy access for a
community where printing shops aren't nearby.

For resonance, we decided to rate it as 3, because we wish to emphasize initiative and a bit of kindness to other
people, so that they will no longer need to travel far just to reach the printing shops. For reinforcement of
entrepreneurial interest, we rated it as a 4 because some of us have enough knowledge and skills needed to
perform printing.

For revenues, we rated it as a 4, considering that we're the only nearby printing shop. Most people will literally go
to the nearest service and avail themselves of it, but some will still likely go to the well-known and reputable shops.
Well, obviously, we gave a 5 rating for responsiveness because it completely addresses the issue of the lack of
nearby printing shops in our community. Stimulating a repeat customer is great knowing that we're the nearest
available printing shop in our community. We believe that reach might be one of the business's hindrances.

The possibility of the printing shop expanding its range is low. In fact, well-known and reputable printing shops
already exist; and also, consider that the entrepreneurs are students and somehow don't have the capability to
really sustain the business, so we gave it a 2. Printing shops can offer various products and services depending on
the ideas presented by the entrepreneur. We decided to give range a 3, the printing business few products and
services that could tap the market segments of the industry.

For revolutionary impact, we decided to rate the printing shop as 3. As we can see, a printing business doesn't have
a wide range of products and services to be the next big thing. We rated returns as 3 due to its cost in production.
For printing, we really need a ton of papers and inks in order to give the desired materials of the products to the
customer.

4 for relative ease of implementation. Implementing this opportunity for entrepreneurs can be difficult, but some of
us do have the necessary materials to get started. Through this, we can start materializing the idea by starting a
small printing shop. There are numerous tangible materials needed for a printing business, primarily the ink, bond
paper, laptop, printer, and internet connection. That's why we gave it a 5 in the resources required. Lastly, we gave
it a 4 for risks. As our group has observed, the risks of starting a printing business are quite high because an
entrepreneur should be able to sustain the business and meet the expectations of the customers; therefore higher
rate for business failure and damaging the reputation of the business.

OPPORTUNITY BUSINESS NUMBER 2

Relevance is rated as 4 since we wanted to provide the market's demand. We’ve observed that it is not very popular
in our community and that there are tons of coffee-lovers everywhere, so we chose it as a business opportunity.
Resonance is rated as 4, and we’d like to take the initiative to start the available business opportunity in our
community. We also want to create an environment where people will be motivated to focus on their respective
tasks. Not only that, but to also promote peace and respect with the customers.

Reinforcement of entrepreneurial interests is rated as 3. It is because the entrepreneurs don’t have the skills and
interest to provide the expected service of the market, but the entrepreneurs are part of the coffee-lover community
nonetheless. We decided to give the revenues a 3, since there are no nearby cafes in our community and we think
that this would be a great place for the coffee-lovers to gather. This business opportunity is meant for the benefit of
both the market and the entrepreneur.
Responsiveness is rated as 1 because people don’t need to go to a cafe just to buy a coffee. In fact, people can just
buy a sachet of coffee from a sari-sari store and drink it on their own. And if they ever want to concentrate on their
work, there are a lot of alternatives, such as going to the library or finding a comfortable working environment, but
of course, this doesn’t apply to all of us. Some may still prefer going to a cafe because it could be the only place
available that works for them.

Our group decided to rate the reach as 2. Just because our community doesn't have any nearby cafes doesn’t
automatically mean that customers will avail of the products and services; seeing that most people who consume
coffee just buy sachets of coffee and only a few can afford to go to cafes. The range is rated as a 3. Cafes and coffee
stands could potentially have some products and services that might attract the attention of the market segments
of the industry, such as: you can sell breads or sweets; design your own latte art; free coffee for the first buyer;
conduct play and win a coffee game; and have an online ordering system, etc.

We all know that cafes aren't new to people, and there are already a ton of outstanding cafes around the globe,
including Starbucks, Coffee Bean, and more. As a result, the newer cafe will most likely be ignored overtime if it
doesn’t offer great products and services, so we decided to rate the revolutionary impact as 2. Coffee shops are
literally a profitable business, as a result of having a high profit and a low cost of stock. That's why we gave it a 5
for the revenues.

Relative ease of implementation is 3. Having your own cafe is not easy, and it would be difficult for entrepreneurs to
conduct this business opportunity since it requires big investments. The entrepreneurs should also secure their
capital and suppliers to start and sustain the business.

The resources required are rated as 4. Starting a cafe or a coffee stand really requires a lot of resources. This
includes mainly the kiosk or establishment, the tools, equipment, and your products.

The risks are rated as 4. Operating cafes takes some investment to establish just a small kiosk. There will also be a
higher chance of risking the capital, the tangible and intangible resources if the entrepreneurs are not able to
sustain the business and if the customers aren't satisfied with the products and services.

OPPORTUNITY BUSINESS NUMBER 3

We wanted to give the people in our community, especially those who are fashion-conscious, an alternative to
dressing well without spending much money by opening a thrift shop or "ukay-ukay store." As a result, we gave
relevance a rating of 4. Resonance is 5. The entrepreneurs aim to impart to the customers the building of their
self-confidence and self-esteem by providing a variety of apparel and footwear that will help them dress well.

 Reinforcement of entrepreneurial interests: we gave it a 3. Entrepreneurs are also associated with


fashion-consciousness as part of dressing well to feel good about ourselves, but not to the point where we become
obsessed with it. Therefore, putting it only in the middle part, as this business opportunity doesn't fully fit the
entrepreneur's skills, passion, and interests.
Revenues are rated as 2 and responsiveness as 3. Operating thrift shops can be beneficial in our community,
considering that the products and services are offered at a low cost. We think that this opportunity can bring good
sales in the market since it's a trend and there aren't many shops operating in our community. But the only concern
is that there are many thrift shops operating outside the community, which increases the competition in the market
because customers will most likely still choose to buy in those areas due to the availability of options.

Reach is 2. As we've mentioned, the competition in the market is great. As a result, it can hinder the ability to attain
faster growth in the market. When we say thrift shops, this refers to secondhand items, so the products and services
are not just limited to apparel and footwear, but also include equipment, toys, accessories, household materials,
and etc.

Revolutionary impact is 5. Thrift shops were introduced a long time ago, and the chances of revolutionizing the
industry are high. According to research, thrift shopping has continually grown over the past few years. Returns are
5. The thrift shop has a low cost of production since these are used items from other people and are sold at a higher
retail cost. Not only that, but also, if the entrepreneur is able to provide a wide range of merchandise to the
customers, good feedback is also a return.

Relative ease of implementation is 3. Implementing this business can be challenging in some ways because you'll
really need a supplier for the products. But we can also consider selling the items that are no longer used at home,
and that's an advantage of thrift shops. The resources required are low, so we gave it a 1. Thrift shops are
composed of different types of second-hand merchandise, mainly clothes, footwear, household equipment, and
toys. Nevertheless, you can still open your thrift shop without all of these items. You just need a number of racks to
display your products.

The risks in a thrift shop are high; that's why we gave it 4 Having tons of stock with a minimal buyer can stunt the
growth of the business.

After conducting the Opportunity Screening Matrix (OSM), we've found that the highest total score is in the printing
business. Therefore, we conclude that the printing business is the most suitable business to conduct among all the 3
business opportunities in our community.
