H2S / CO2 CORROSION INHIBITOR

S104 is an effective water dispersible filming amine corrosion inhibitor for protecting coiled tubing during
interventions in producing wells having corrosive fluids. S104 was developed for use in hydrogen sulfide and
carbon dioxide environments but is not designed for use with matrix acidizing treatments, primary applications
are: nitrogen lifting, coiled tubing logging and coiled tubing fishing.

S104 has been tested with HS80 CT and up to 149°C (300°F), 10% H2S and 20% CO2. HS80 CT is
recommended and uniquely suited to hydrogen sulfide environments as it is soft enough a steel to resist sulfide
stress cracking (SSC) but hard enough to resist hydrogen induced cracking (HIC).

S104 has been also tested for successfully compatibility with materials of construction and may be used
with copper, aluminum, brass, mild steel, 304 and 316 stainless steel, its compatibility extends to Viton, Teflon
and polypropylene but is known for its incompatibility with some elastomers such as: neoprene, medium
density polyethylene, nitrile and ethylene propylene.

The product benefits include:

 Corrosion inhibition for coiled tubing being used in corrosive environments

 Controlled solubility for excellent film dispersant
 Effective in sweet and sour systems
 Detergent properties that contribute to clean metal surfaces

Feeding and Dosage

The recommended concentrations in sour brine range from 0.05 to 0.5 gal/1000 gal and 5 to 10 gal/1000
gal in saturated CO2 brines. S104 is capable of covering 160 ft2 of tubular surface area per each gal added, in
example it is required 62.5 gal of S104 to protect 10,000 ft2 of tubulars surface area. Once the volume of S104
is known, it can be diluted with either water or diesel to give a final inhibitor solution and a feasible injection
rate. S104 inhibition film will persists for at least a day and up to two weeks under static conditions; however,
if the well is flowing, the film will be eroded with time. Under flowing conditions, a batch of inhibitor should be
pumped to recoat the exposed surfaces every 6 to 8 hrs. Abrasion will also occur between the coiled tubing
and the well tubulars every time the coil is moved; therefore, a slug of approximately 5-10 bbl at a
concentration of 20 gal/1000 gal should be pumped every time the coil is moved to recoat the areas rubbed
bare of inhibitor. When applying the inhibitor while RIH, the injection rate of the inhibitor solution should be
calculated by multiplying the inhibitor solution total volume by the rate of coil run in the well divided by the
length of the coil to be run in the well. Rinj. (gal/min) = Vt (gal) x Rct (ft/min) / L (ft).
