EX-Problem1
The floor plan of solid rectangular slabs shown has thickness of 160 mm and a flooring cover of 2.0 kN/m2. It is designed to
carry a service live load of 5.0 kN/m2, and constructed in a factory of environment condition 2, where dynamic machinery is
used. The width of supporting beams is 250 mm and their depth is 700 mm. Take Fcu = 30 N/mm2 and Fy = 400 N/mm2
Available rebar diameters for slabs are 8, 10, and 12 mm. Use centerline dimensions in the analysis.
a. Identify required strips and calculate bending moment demands at key sections of each strip using the empirical
coefficients. (use weighted average values at inner supports)
b. Design the key sections of each strip
