Cylinder liners
Engine type D628

General As from now, we have two types of cylinder liners, which are exchangeable
with all earlier design cylinder liners. The available types are:
• cylinder liner with Anti Polishing Ring (APR),
• cylinder liner without anti polishing ring.

The design changes are:

• three O-ring grooves,
• honing specifications.

Advantages are:
• better sealing,
• a longer lifetime and (in specific cases) a lower lubricating oil consumption
due to the new honing specifications.

Both types will be delivered with Lloyd’s Register classification.

1) Cylinder liner PAAE072373 can be used for D628 engines with a

compression ratio of 11.7 and 13.
2) Cylinder liner PAAE072400 is only applicable for D628 engines with a
compression ratio of 13.
The APR is not included in cylinder liner PAAE072400. The APR has to be
ordered separately.

Remark Some formerly used cylinder liners have an O-ring fitted just below the rim,
see Figure 2. This O-ring is not used with the new cylinder liners
PAAE072373 and PAAE072400.
