S/BVM 628 - Firing pressure measurement in the cylinder head
The connection of the indicator valve in the cylinder head has been modified to improve the measuring
accuracy of the firing pressure. This has beco me possible by a straight bore to the combustion chamber
in lieu of the long branching bore, see enclosure.
For this reason it is possible that a 10 bar higher firing pressure is measured when replacing the old
cylinder head with a new one.
The actual firing pressure in the combustion chamber is identical with old and new cylinder head
versions. An adaptation of the newly measured firing pressure to the previously measured value is not
necessary.
New cylinder heads can be identified by the indicator valve located more closely to the cylinder head
centre.
