1. APPOINTMENT

THE EMPLOYEE, HEREBY ACCEPTS THE APPOINTMENT AND IS APPOINTED AS AN EMPLOYEE FOR CHINA PETROLEUM &
CHEMICAL CORPORATION (SINOPEC) LIMBE CAMEROON.

2. DURATION

=>THIS AGREEMENT WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE UPON YOUR ARRIVAL AND IT WILL CONTINUE FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD
UNTIL IT HAS BEEN CANCELLED IN TERMS HEREOF.

=> THE EMPLOYEE’S APPOINTMENT (IN THE INSTANCE OF NEW APPOINTMENTS) IS SUBJECT TO A 1 () MONTH
PROBATIONARY PERIOD DURING WHICH PERIOD THE EMPLOYER MAY TERMINATE THE SERVICES OF THE EMPLOYEE FOR
ANY FAIR REASON. ONE WEEK’S WRITTEN NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF SERVICE TO THE EMPLOYEE, BEFORE THE END OF
THE PROBATIONARY PERIOD WILL BE GIVEN.
=> SUBSTANTIVE AND PROCEDURAL FAIRNESS WILL ENTAIL THAT THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE ALLOWED TO STATE HIS / HER
CASE IN RESPONSE TO THE ALLEGATIONS BEING RAISED AND TO A FINAL DECISION FROM THE EMPLOYER.

3. SERVICE HOURS

=> SERVICE HOURS WILL BE FROM 8:00 AM UNTIL 4:00 PM ON WEEKDAYS. IT WILL BE EXPECTED FROM THE EMPLOYEE TO
WORK FROM MONDAYS TO SATURDAYS FOR MUSLIMS SINCE FRIDAY WILL BE A NON-WORKING DAY FOR THEM AND
MONDAYS TO FRIDAYS FOR NON-MUSLIMS.

4. REMUNERATION

THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE ENTITLED TO THE FOLLOWING REMUNERATION:


=> AN HOURLY SALARY OF USD 45 AND USD 10 FOR EXTRA HOURS OF WORK
=> AN ANNUAL BONUS EQUAL TO ONE MONTH’S SALARY, PAYABLE ON THE EMPLOYEE’S BIRTHDAY MONTH (*OR: AT THE
END OF EVERY YEAR DURING DECEMBER). THIS BONUS WILL ONLY BE PAID AFTER THE COMPLETION OF TWELVE (12)
MONTHS OF CONTINUOUS SERVICE WITH THE EMPLOYER.
=> THE EMPLOYEE HEREBY GIVES PERMISSION TO THE EMPLOYER TO DEDUCT ALL OBLIGATORY DEDUCTIONS AS
AUTHORIZED BY STATUTE FROM THE ABOVE REMUNERATION.

=> OVERTIME WILL BE PERFORMED WHEN SO REASONABLY REQUESTED BY THE EMPLOYER AND THE EMPLOYER WILL
REMUNERATE THE EMPLOYEE ACCORDING TO THE BASIC CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT ACT OF 1997, AS AMENDED.

5. LEAVE

ANNUAL LEAVE:
=> THE EMPLOYEE IS ENTITLED TO 21 (TWENTY-ONE) CONSECUTIVE DAYS OFLEAVE ON FULL PAY FOR EACH AND EVERY
ANNUAL LEAVE CYCLE.

=> THE SAID LEAVE SHALL BE GRANTED BY THE EMPLOYER AS FROM A DATE DETERMINED BY HIM AT ANY TIME DURING THE
12 MONTHS CYCLE BUT NOT LATER THAN SIX MONTHS AFTER THE COMPLETION OF 12’SI12-MONTH’S
TERMINATION OF THE EMPLOYEE’S EMPLOYMENT THE EMPLOYER SHALL PAY TO THE EMPLOYEE HIS / HER FULL
REMUNERATION IN RESPECT OF ANY LEAVE WHICH ACCRUED, BUT NOT GRANTED TO HIM / HER BEFORE THE DATE OF
TERMINATION OF THE EMPLOYMENT.

SICK LEAVE:
=>THE EMPLOYER SHALL GRANT TO THE EMPLOYEE WHO IS ABSENT FROM WORK THROUGH INCAPACITY DURING A SICK
LEAVE CYCLE OF 36 MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT WITH THE EMPLOYER SICK LEAVE EQUAL TO THE NUMBER OF DAYS THE
EMPLOYEE WOULD NORMALLY WORK DURING SIX WEEKS.

=> DURING THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF CONTINUOUS EMPLOYMENT, THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE ENTITLED TO ONE DAY OFPAID
SICK LEAVE FOR EVERY TWENTY-SIX DAYS OF WORK.

=>THE EMPLOYEE WILL PROVIDE THE EMPLOYER WITH A MEDICAL CERTIFICATE WHEN APPLYING FOR SICK LEAVE. THE
MEDICAL CERTIFICATE MUST BE ISSUED AND SIGNED BY A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER OR PERSON WHO IS CERTIFIED TO
DIAGNOSE AND TREAT PATIENTS AND WHO IS REGISTERED WITH A PROFESSIONAL COUNCIL.
MATERNITY LEAVE:
=>THE EMPLOYEE IS ENTITLED TO UNPAID MATERNITY LEAVE FOR A MAXIMUM PERIOD OF 4 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS
COMMENCING AT ANY TIME FROM 4 WEEKS BEFORE THE EXPECTED DATE OF BIRTH UNLESS OTHERWISE AGREED UPON OR
ON A DATE AS CERTIFIED BY A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER.

=> THE EMPLOYEE WILL INFORM THE EMPLOYER AT LEAST 4 WEEKS BEFORE SHE INTENDS TO TAKE MATERNITY LEAVE, ON
SUCH DATES.

=> THE EMPLOYEE MAY NOT WORK FOR 6 WEEKS AFTER THE BIRTH OF HER CHILD UNLESS A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER
CERTIFIES THAT SHE IS FIT TO DO SO.

=> THE EMPLOYEE IS ENTITLED TO COMMENCE EMPLOYMENT AFTER THE EXPIRY OF THE MATERNITY LEAVE.

=>THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE ENTITLED TO MATERNITY BENEFITS BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE UNEMPLOYMENT
INSURANCE ACT, 63 OF 2001 AND THE EMPLOYER WILL ASSIST THE EMPLOYEE IN PROCESSING HER CLAIM AGAINST THE
UNEMPLOYMENT FUND.

FAMILY RESPONSIBILITY LEAVE

THE EMPLOYER WILL GRANT THE EMPLOYEE DURING EACH ANNUAL LEAVE CYCLE AT THE REQUEST OF THE EMPLOYEE,
THREE DAYS OF PAID LEAVE WHICH THE EMPLOYEE IS ENTITLED TO TAKE:

=> WHEN THE EMPLOYEE’S CHILD IS BORN; OR


=> WHEN THE EMPLOYEE’S CHILD IS SICK; OR
=> IN THE EVENT OF DEATH OF THE EMPLOYEE’S SPOUSE, PARENT, GRANDPARENT, CHILD, ADOPTED CHILD OR
GRANDCHILD, BROTHER, OR SISTER.

=>THE EMPLOYEE MAY TAKE FAMILY RESPONSIBILITY LEAVE IN RESPECT OF THE WHOLE OR A PART OF A DAY AND THE
EMPLOYER MAY REQUIRE REASONABLE PROOF OF THE REASONS FOR WHICH THE LEAVE IS REQUIRED.

ACCRUAL OF LEAVE
LEAVE MAY NOT BE ACCRUED BY THE EMPLOYEE AND IN THE EVENT OF IT NOT BEING TAKEN, THE EMPLOYEE WILL FORFEIT
IT.

6. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

THE EMPLOYEE IS ENTITLED TO SUCH PUBLIC HOLIDAYS ON FULL PAY AS ARE DETERMINED BY LAW.

7. TRAINING

UPON YOUR ARRIVAL, YOU WILL UNDERGO A ONE-MONTH TRAINING PROGRAM. THE PURPOSE OF THIS TRAINING IS
TO FACILITATE YOUR TRANSITION, ENABLE YOU TO GET ACQUAINTED WITH THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND BLEND
YOUR SKILLS ACQUIRED DOMESTICALLY WITH THE SKILLS OF YOUR CO-WORKERS, FOR THE ACQUISITION OF
YOUR RESIDENCE PERMIT DOCUMENT AND THE PROCESSING OF YOUR IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS. TRAINING IS
INDISPENSABLE AND SO MUST BE UNDERGONE BY ALL NEWLY RECRUITED EMPLOYEES. IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS
COMPRISE OF YOUR CHINA PETROLEUM & CHEMICAL CORPORATION (SINOPEC) EMPLOYEE MEMBERSHIP
CARD,
IDENTIFICATION AND CHINA PETROLEUM & CHEMICAL CORPORATION (SINOPEC) EMPLOYEE UNIFORM. TRAINING
RUNS FROMMONDAYS TO FRIDAYS FROM 88:00 AM TO NOON. AFTER BREAK, YOU WILL JOIN THE OTHER EMPLOYEES
AT THE JOB SITE AND WORK UNTIL 4:00 PM. TWO EXTRA HOURS OF WORK MAXIMUM A DAY.

8. ACCOMMODATION

AFTER ONE MONTH OF WORK WITH THE COMPANY YOU SHALL THEN BE OFFERED ACCOMMODATION IN ANY OF THE
COMPANY HOUSES. FOR THE FIRST MONTH, THE COMPANY BUSES WILL TRANSPORT WORKERS FROM COMPANY-
RECOMMENDED APARTMENT RENTALS (OPHELIA HOTEL) ( WEBSITE: https://opheliahotels.com) TO WORK AND BACK.
WE RECOMMEND OPHELIA HOTEL. WE RECOMMEND IT BECAUSE OUR WORKERS ARE SECURE AND COMFORTABLE THERE.
YOU WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR ACCOMMODATION FOR THE FIRST ONE MONTH AND YOU SHALL THEN BE MOVED TO
THE COMPANY HOUSES FOR THE REST OF YOUR SERVICES WITH THE COMPANY. YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR BOOKING AND
THEN FORWARD YOUR RECEIPT TOGETHER WITH THE INDEX PAGE OF YOUR PASSPORT AND YOUR SIGNED CONTRACT FOR
YOUR VISA PROCUREMENT. AFTER RECEIVING THIS CONTRACT FORM, DO SIGN AND SEND IT BACK TO THE COMPANY
WITHIN 7 DAYS WITH THE ABOVE-MENTIONED DOCUMENTS.

9. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMPANY

THE COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING YOUR FLIGHT TICKET AND THAT OF TWO OTHER IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS
(HUSBAND, WIFE, AND CHILD) THE COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR INSURANCE COVERAGE THE COMPANY IS
RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR FULL MEDICAL COVERAGE THE COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROCESSING ALL THE NECESSARY
PAPERWORK REGARDING VISA APPLICATION AT THE EMBASSY. ACOMPLETE SET OF DOCUMENTS WILL BE SENT TO YOU IN A
FILE, DIRECTLY FROM OUR OFFICE IN CAMEROON VIA TRANSGLOBAL COURIER.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FROM YOU BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL

CHINA PETROLEUM & CHEMICAL CORPORATION (SINOPEC) IS A CHINESE-BASED COMPANY, WORKING ON A


PROJECT IN CAMEROON. YOUR CONTRACT TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT HAVE BEEN DELIBERATED UPON BY BOTH THE BOARD
OF DIRECTORS OF CHINA PETROLEUM & CHEMICAL CORPORATION (SINOPEC) AND THE GOVERNMENT OF
CAMEROON. ON THAT NOTE, YOUR CONTRACT IS ENFORCED BY THE CAMEROON AND CHINESE EMPLOYMENT POLICIES.
ACCORDING TO THE CAMEROON POLICIES OF EMPLOYMENT, TO BE ELIGIBLE AND PERMITTED TO WORK AS A FOREIGNER IN
CAMEROON, YOU MUST POSSESS AND PRESENT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL

=> WORK PERMIT.

AFTER READING THROUGH THIS CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT, IF YOU ACCEPT TO WORK ON OUR CONTRACT TERMS, KINDLY SIGN
AND SEND TO US THIS CONTRACT. WE WILL PROCEED WITH YOUR SIGNED CONTRACT AND A COPY OF YOUR PASSPORT
INDEX PAGE TO THE MINISTRY OF EMPLOYMENT AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN CAMEROON AND APPLY FOR YOUR WORK
PERMIT DOCUMENT. ONCE IT IS ISSUED, WE WILL COURIER IT TO YOU ALONGSIDE THE OTHER PAPERWORK AFTER
PROCESSING IS COMPLETE. YOU MUST PRESENT THIS WORKING PERMIT TO THE MINISTRY OF EMPLOYMENT AND
VOCATIONAL TRAINING UPON YOUR ARRIVAL IN CAMEROON BEFORE YOU CAN BE GRANTED FULL PERMISSION TO WORK.
=> RESIDENCE PERMIT.

IT COULD BE TEMPORAL OR PERMANENT. YOU MUST PRESENT A RESIDENCE PERMIT DOCUMENT TO THE MINISTRY OF
HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN CAMEROON BEFORE YOU ARE PERMITTED TO WORK. WE PRESUME YOU ALREADY
READ ABOUT THIS ASPECT ABOVE, UNDER THE SECTION FOR ACCOMMODATION. YOU WILL NEED A TEMPORAL RESIDENCE
PERMIT BASED ON THE FACT THAT YOU WILL LATER BE OFFERED FREE RESIDENCE BY THE COMPANY. TO BE ABLE TO GET A
RESIDENCE PERMIT DOCUMENT, YOU HAVE TO SEND US A PROOF SHOWING THAT YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY MADE
RESERVATIONS FOR A PLACE TO STAY IN CAMEROON FOR AT LEAST ONE MONTH (BOOKING IT AND PAYING FOR IT). THIS IS
CALLED A PROOF OF ACCOMMODATION. ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ISSUED THE PROOF OF ACCOMMODATION, KINDLY SEND US
A COPY. WE WILL TAKE IT TO THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT IN CAMEROON AND APPLY FOR YOUR
RESIDENCE PERMIT. ONCE YOUR RESIDENCE PERMIT IS ISSUED, WE WILL ALSO COURIER IT TO YOU. THE COMPANY WILL
NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR ANY EMPLOYEE. DO NOT DEMAND FORCED SALARY DEDUCTIONS FOR THIS PURPOSE.

10. TERMINATION

- THIS AGREEMENT MAY BE TERMINATED BY EITHER PARTY BY GIVING A ONE MONTH’S WRITTEN NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF
SERVICE THE ONE TO THE OTHER, PROVIDED THAT SUCH NOTICE MUST BE GIVEN ON THE 1ST DAY OF THE PARTICULAR MONTH.

- THE PERIOD OF NOTICE SHALL NOT BE GIVEN DURING THE EMPLOYEE’S ABSENCE ON LEAVE AS DETERMINED HEREIN.

11. CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE


ON TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT AN EMPLOYEE IS ENTITLED TO A CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE, THE PARTICULARS WHEREOF
ARE DETAILED IN THE BASIC CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT ACT.

OTHER REQUIRE REQUIREMENTS ONCE READING AND AGREEING TO WORK ON OUR CONTRACT TERMS, CONDITIONS OF
EMPLOYMENT, DI, AND SCDISCIPLINARYROCEDURES, THEN WE EXPECT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS FROM YOU AS A SIGN
OF ACCEPTANCE AND WILLINGNESS TO WORK WITH CHINA PETROLEUM & CHEMICAL CORPORATION (SINOPEC).
