ACT OF DECLARATION OF THE PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE (Authored by: Ambrosio R.

Bautista
Translation by: Sulpicio Guevara)

This document contains the account of the declaration of independence of the Filipino people from the
grasp of the Spaniards for over 300 years. It narrates the valiant effort of the Filipino people to
overthrow the Spaniards out of their ruling in the Philippines. It was written to formally acknowledge in
history that we have achieved and gained our independence through years of tireless effort to
overthrow the power that held the wheel for centuries within the Filipino lands in tyranny.

This was written by Ambrosio Bautista also known as “Don Bosyong”. He is a Filipino lawyer and
nationalist that once solicited funds to campaign for reforms in the Philippines. He is a member of La
Liga Filipina and was imprisoned for the suspicion that he is. He stood for himself and acted as his own
lawyer and eventually got himself out of prison. It was also him that first waved the Philippine Flag
regardless of the popular belief that it was Aguinaldo.

This document contains the description of the situation that the valiant Filipino heroes were in and how
they came over these circumstances to fight for our independence. It also contains details on how and
when certain events had happened. It contains details of the people that made our flag, wrote our
national anthem, the people that are present in the declaration event, and the events that happened
after that.

This proof of our independence survived through the years to remind us of the past and grant us
reflection to avoid being enslaved again not just by other countries but also the tyrannies that prove
redundant on our history. It shall serve as a driving force for the people to rise again from the ashes
brought about by the carnage of war and stand tall within the rubbles that fell off from the foundations
of our proud nation.
