Department of Environment

Established in 1975, the Department of Environment (DOE) of Malaysia is responsible for the
prevention, control and abatement of pollution in the country through the enforcement of the
Environmental Quality Act of 1974 and its subsidiary legislation.

The agency is guided by the vision to conserve the uniqueness, diversity and quality of the
environment with the objective of maintaining health, prosperity, security and well-being for
present and future generations. It defines its mission as promoting, ensuring and sustaining sound
environmental management in the process of nation building.

II. Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd

Kualiti Alam is the owner and operator of Malaysia's only Integrated Waste Management Centre, an
end-to-end offsite facility that undertakes treatment and disposal of hazardous waste. In operation
since 1988, Kualiti Alam serves over 5,000 local and international Waste Generators and adopts a
cradle-to-grave concept that includes collection, transportation, analysis, recycling, treatment and
safe disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with strict international and local standards.
