Dear Parent/ Guardian,
Siena Elementary School
786 E. Wood Rd I want to be the first to welcome you and your student to 2nd Grade! I’m
Adrian, Mi 49221 Ms. Soukup and I’ll have the pleasure of being their teacher this year. This
555.456.7890 year we have so many exciting things to learn and talk about. I first want
asoukup@sienaheights.edu to introduce myself. I’m a recent graduate of Siena Heights University
with a degree in both Elementary Education and Special Education. I was
also a part of the Women’s Lacrosse Team at Siena where I played for 5
years. Teaching has been a huge passion of mine, and I can’t wait to share
it with you and your child!

Throughout the school year there will be multitudes of learning

opportunities for students in the classroom. I want to take the time to
highlight some exciting things we will have the opportunity to do. First in
science we will have the opportunity to visit a local nature preserve, and
spend time seeing what we’re learning about in our local community.
Science will also allow us to visit the Toledo Zoo as well, and get to see all
the fun and exciting animals. As a class we also have the chance to do
hands-on projects and activities to make our learning more enjoyable.
We’ll spend time being creative and working on posters and other
projects to go along with our learning.

Having all of these opportunities and fun and exciting things going on in
the classroom is going to take some work. This means from time to time I
might ask for volunteers to help out in the classroom. If this is something
that you would be interested in I will send home additional information
at that time. It would be greatly appreciated to have some helpful hands
in the room during these times.

I want to focus this year on building a community in the classroom with

both your child, and you. This is the foundational piece to have a
successful and enjoyable year. This is all going to start with
communication with you as the parent or guardian. I will be sending
home weekly news letters to update with what we have done in class
that particular week. There will also be a spot in every student's planner
to write notes, or any feedback. My email and phone are always open as
well, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or
concerns you might have. I will do my best to respond to things as quickly
as I can.

I look forward to starting off this year very soon, and I can’t wait to meet
both you and your child. Let’s get ready to learn and have an amazing
time in 2nd grade!
