I. CONCEPT PAPER

A. Title: Ecotourism Around The World

B. Name of video maker: Franilyn Sendiong-Dacono

C. Genre: Informational & Experimental Video

D. Tentative Running Time: Less than 5 minutes

E. Format and equipment to be used

To create an informational video using Panasonic DMC-FZ35 with tripod/ camera
mount and hand held cameras such as Iphone 6 and Samsung tab.

F. Background and rationale of the video production

According to Anthony Bourdain, “Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always
comfortable. Sometimes it hurts; it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The
journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on
your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with
you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” The beautiful statement is a
good reminder to all of us that life is short and we must travel as much as we
can, as far as we can and as long as we can. Life is not meant to be lived only in
one place. It may not be a smooth journey but for sure, it will change us
positively. There’s nothing more inspiring or life-changing than being engulfed in
the beauty and culture of another world through travel experience.

The informative and experimental video aims to highlight the importance of your
time to travel through ecotourism. The places we go need NOT to be luxurious or
grand. What matters is we can afford, we don’t waste our time and our travel
adventure is meaningful. The video will present creative montage of images and
symbolic concepts to bring the message of the value of travelling to natural

III. PRODUCTION SERVICES ENVIRONMENT ANALYSIS

In Singapore, there are so many production companies offering various video

production services. Alta Productions is one of them and it is also the corporate
production arm of Upside Down Concepts Singapore and they have produced for
more than 250 projects for NGOs, SMEs, MNCs & and government bodies. The
Upside Down Concepts Singapore is the mothership that specializes in TV
broadcast and film projects that includes creating TV programs, feature films,
stereoscopic 3D production, TV commercials, music video and more. They also
have a specific department handling aerial filming videos investing with their
advance remote control multicopter. Another popular company in Singapore is
the Rice Barn Film & Television. They are a corporate video production
company that specializes in producing videos to build brands, help increase
sales, train people and raise funds.

All these production companies provides services such as corporate & marketing
videos, educational & training videos, photography, event & launch videos, time-
lapse videos, WEB video, branding films, demo videos, infographics, building &
construction videos even language localisation such as voice-over, on-screen
text replacement, subtitling and more.

They are also very strong when it comes to their post-production services which
include the following:

UPOU-‐  DEVC  207                                                                                                                                                                          Franilyn  Sendiong-‐Dacono  (2014-‐92639)

• Professional transcoding (P2-HD, AVCHD, H264, MPEG2/4, Apple

ProRes, Cineform)
• Professional Windows Media & Flash encoding (High Quality)
• Professional MPEG-2/H264 encoding (High Quality)
• DVD Authoring (Multi-language & multi-angle, Menu Driven)
• Blu-ray disc output (Straight-play or Loop)

Among them, Alta Productions is the good choice because they are one of the
biggest and pioneering independent production houses in Singapore with
extensive portfolio. They keep the entire production process in-house to ensure
consistency and quality service than outsource to freelancers. They provide a
complete digital workflow from production to delivery including seamless data
transfer to post-production video editing, fail proof RAID 5 central data storage
and they got the fastest data access with SAN server and PCI-e network for all
their editing suites. Greatest of all, they ensure that all their corporate projects
meet standard broadcast specifications. With so much strong points of the
production companies in Singapore in terms of offering the widest range and
complexities of services in this industry and they are investing with the latest
equipment and facilities, the only concern will be the cost.

The greatest potential and challenge in starting this production is the cost. In the
initial quotation request sent to the production companies in Singapore, it would
run around 3000 to 4000 Singapore Dollars (Php.128, 000. 00). As a solo
producer of this video, this project would really need financial support.

On the positive light, there will be some friends and ex-colleagues in Davao and
Manila, Philippines that can help in making this project. A co-OFW and a friend
committed to help on taking some shots and in post-production process. I still
believe that we can actualize this production even with just our smartphones with
the help of my partner in crime, my husband.
