Division of Integers
Q1. –24 ÷ [12 ÷ (–3)] is equal to
Sol. –24 ÷ [12 ÷ (–3)]
= –24 ÷ (-4)
=6
Q2. Evaluate [(–64) ÷ 16] ÷ 4
Sol. [(–64) ÷ 16] ÷ 4

= (-4) ÷ 4 = -1
Q3. Fill in the blanks:
(a) 229 ÷ _____ = 229 (b) (–71) ÷ _____ = –1
(c) (–105) ÷ _____ = 1 (d) – 78 ÷ _____ = 78
(e) _____ ÷ 1 = – 57 (f) _____ ÷ 35 = –1
(g) 18 ÷ _____ = –2 (h) _____ ÷ (6) = –4

Sol. (a) 229 ÷ 1 = 229 (b) (–71) ÷ 71 = –1

(c) (–105) ÷ (-105) = 1 (d) – 78 ÷ (-1) = 78
(e) (–57) ÷ 1 = – 57 (f) (-35) ÷ 35 = –1
(g) 18 ÷ (-9) = –2 (h) (-24) ÷ (6) = –4

Q4. In a class test (+ 4) marks are given for every correct answer and (–1)
marks are given for every incorrect answer and no marks for not
attempting any question. Rajni scored 30 marks. If she has got 10 correct
answers, how many questions has she attempted incorrectly?
Sol. Marks for 1 right answer = +4
Marks for 1 wrong answer = (-1)
Rajni scored = 30 marks
Marks obtained for correct answers = 10 x 4 = 40
Marks obtained for incorrect answers = Total score – Marks scored for
correct answer = 30 – 40 = -10
Number of incorrect answer = -10/-1 = 10
