II. Conditional sentence type 1


 Definition: usually used to place a possible condition in Present or Future with possible
outcome.
 Formula:
If + S + Ve,es , S + will/can/shall + Vinf + (O)
(must/may)
 How to use:
1. IF 1 can be used to indicate possible events in the present or future.
Ex: If I get up early in the morning, I will go to school on time. 

2. IF 1 can be used to request and suggest.


Ex: If you need a ticket, I can get you one.

3. IF 1 can be used to warn and menace.


Ex: If you come in, he will kill you.
Note:

*Present simple can be used in both clause


Ex: If David has any money, he spends it.

*Continous Present continous or Present perfect can be used

If + S + present continuous/present perfect , S + will + Vinf


Ex: If you are studying, I will not disturb you.

III. Travel addict (Page 75)


Ben is 32 years old and he is a travel addict. Ben returned from his travels just 6 months
ago and now he wants to go travelling soon. He spent 2 years travelling with his
girlfriend, Jane, they got married on a beach in Thailand. They visited 14 countries,
watched fireworks over the Sydney Opera House at New Year, saw the sun rise over the
temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia and spent his 32s1 birthday on a Thai beach. It was
the best year of their lives away from work, their boss and worries. They had huge debts
and they had to find work. The routine of getting up, going to work, going home, eating,
sleeping and getting up again is just about killing him. He is finding it difficult to do what
other peaople tell him to do. Then before he wetnt travelling, he worried about earning
money, buying a bigger car, a house… But now he’s back and don’t care about those
things anymore. He’s living like a student and saving all his money.
But a interesting thing that while Ben was travelling, he met other people just like him.
When he was travelling on a beach in Thailand, he met Sandie and her boyfriend, Ian.
They got married and spent a year travelling on their honeymoon. They were both IT
consultants with stressful jobs. They wikll have to stay in these jobs until they find a way
to escape.
Ben met Rebecca in Australia during her round-the-world trip. Now she’s back home and
also having trouble readjusting to life. She feel it’s terrible and during the first couple of
weeks back at work, she cuoldn’t work. Nobody can understand her, her parents and
friends aren’t interested in her experiences. She keep looking at her photos, it was such a
important time in her life that she won’t forget.

IV. “What do you think” (Page 76)


There are several heritage and splendid sights in Vietnam. Especially, Da Nang is one of
the most popular place for both Vietnamese and foreign tourist. Da Nang includes sea,
Son Tra island, mountain and beautiful landscape. There are a lot of interesting places
such as: Asia entertainment park, Ba Na hill, Hoi an ancient town, My Khe beach,
museum of art as well as famouse bridges. The city is well known for its fresh
atmosphere, friendly people and security. The weather is glorious all the year and it
brings this city many delicacies from sea and perfect living condition for people,
specifically the elder. Visiting Da Nang, I am really impressed by Ba Na hill containing
longest cable car from land to the top of the mountain. It is an unforgettable experience
for visitors to observe breathtaking sight and picturesque scene. Beside, the beaches have
long golden sand, deep blue sea in addition huge bunches of fresh coconut. Tourist has a
chance to relax, enjoy the peace and nature, play aquatic sport. Moreover, the city has
many big bridges like Dragon bridge, Quay bridge and a large outdoor entertainment
named Asia park. Additionally, there are a lot of delicous typical dishes such as: Quang
noodle, “xeo” cake, pork pancake and many others. Da Nang is preserved for its natural
beauty; therefore, there is an increasing number of tourists come here. Consequently, it
leads to polluted environment, natural damage and robbery. Hence, Da Nang is voted to
be one of the most worth-living cities in Vietnam. In the future, we, Vietnamese people
hope Da Nang will develop and become more popular over the world.
The famous place that I don’t want to visit is Cliff of Moher, Ireland. Ireland have
magnificent natural beauty and rich history. Modern cities like Dublin are rich in culture
and arts, with plenty to do for visitors. One such attraction is the stunning cliffs of Moher,
located on the island’s rugged west coast. The sights are spectacular, with views of the
coastline and over the Atlantic ocean. However, they are also very dangerous. Many
people have fallen to their death after getting too close to the edge.

VI. The role of technology


Nowadays, most young people have a smartphone. It has become a must-have device that
serves many purposes in their daily life. So what are its benefits? First, a smartphone is
used for communication. We can instantly make phone calls, send and receive messages
anywhere, anytime because it's portable. Using a smartphone is more convenient than
using a telephone and faster than writing a letter. Second, we can use a smartphone for
entertainment. Listening to music, watching films, and playing games are some
interesting functions. Besides, we can also use it to take photos and record videos to keep
our happy moments. Finally, we can easily find the information we need via a
smartphone. Once it is connected to a wireless or mobile data network, we can surf the
web, and even use maps to look for places.
