display them on mini wooden easels or make
single-fold cards so they stand on their own.”

Polar bear cards

How to keep your

stitching looking
clean and pristine
Sometimes you’ll find stray bits of
fluff from threads on your stitching,
especially if you’ve had to unpick any
stitches. This is particularly noticeable
on designs worked in mainly pale-
coloured cottons. To remove the fluff,
cover your fingers with sticky tape,
and gently roll it over the fabric. The
tape will lift the fluff off and leave your
stitching looking neat and clean.

Stitch Tip
Keep your aida taut
in a hoop, but don’t
pull it too tightly as
this may distort the
fabric

In the detail
Metallic threads give a sparkling
finish to some of the stitches on
these designs. You could also use
a speciality cotton thread for the
white cross stitches, such as DMC’s
satin thread in white (S5200), which
will give cards a luxurious finish.

In the detail
These designs contain a lot of
solid blocks of colour that you
can work your way through
fairly quickly. You can speed
things up even further by
working rows of half cross

completing the cross stitches
on the return journey.
