INTRODUCTION

It is undeniable in this modern world that the evolution of technology has left us
rendering speechless every time we manage to overcome one problem and another. Which
brought us to the case for a specific area which is healthcare. We are introducing the use of
IoT that stands for Internet of Things that has an extensive applicability in various areas of
expertise. It allows the paradigm of this specific area to function more competently. This
will improvise the challenges faced by this area. There are a few such as work overload.
Due to a survey, the provider shortage is hitting every healthcare organization in the world.
Insufficient staff is also unsurprising considering the first reason that mentioned above. The
lack of staff brings us to another challenge where the ratio of the patients needing to be
treated at one time isn't balanced with the amount of providers so most of the patients
didn’t get enough time with the provider as they need to attend to another patient. These
reasons tell us that any other solution that can help the healthcare area would be
appreciated.

The use of IoT would greatly help this area of expertise. It is because the IoT can
make simultaneous reporting and monitoring. It is monitored by real time and connected to
devices via an application. Any required health data collected and transferred to a
physician directly. A study that has been conducted shows that 50% of reduction in 30-days
of readmission rate due to remote patient monitoring. Especially in events of medical
emergency like heart failure, asthma attacks and others. End-to-end connectivity can
automate patient care workflow with the help of the health mobility solution. As IoT
enables interoperability and data movement that makes the service delivery effective.
Therefore, this setup cuts down the cost by cutting the unnecessary visits, utilizing better
quality resources, and improving the allocation planning. A vast amount of data sent in a
very short time is hard to store and manage if the access to the cloud is unavailable. That is
why IoT devices can cut the raw data and overcloud with the providers only getting access
to final reports with graphs. This will allow organizations to get vital healthcare analytics
and data-driven insights which speed up decision making and less prone to errors. Remote
medical access allows patients to contact a doctor who is miles away with just an
application. This solves the issue in mobility so the medics can constantly check on the
patients and identify the ailments on-the-go. IoT reports and alerts to give a firm opinion
about a patient’s condition irrespective of place and time.

That is why we are in a dire need of using the internet of things in our healthcare
areas. The improvements can be made really helping us regarding the issue at hand just by
using a smartphone we can achieve anything and prevent the worst to happen. Constant
monitoring can give an early detection and diagnosis of potentially fatal physiological
conditions.
PROBLEM STATEMENTS AND PROJECT OBJECTIVES

PROBLEM STATEMENT :
Society that is having problems on going to and fro the hospitals or some that lives
too far for them to have a medical checkup every once and a while.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES :
1. Helping those who live far away to get the treatment they deserve.
2. Preventing a bad situation to occur.
3. Relieving some burden for both doctors and patients.

PROJECT SCOPES

We will be producing a health monitor that is connected to IoT in order to vast the
function of monitoring health in daily life. We would assume that this tracking device
would function 24 hours a day.

PROJECT METHODOLOGY

I am aiming to gain more in-depth understanding towards the IoT related to

healthcare. I’d need to do some research in the medical area in order to really sure
programme the right information. It would be about the normal temperature for a normal
person and also the temperature range of the ones with chronic diseases especially the one
with heart diseases. Next, I would include the information about the heart rate of each
person in every illness stage. In order for me to get the information, I will find the
samplings based on book sources. I would also ask some of the doctors that I know for the
accuration of the samplings that I got from the books. From the collected data made by me,
I will then compile it into the programme.
This method will likely help me because even if I make my own research and study,
I would also have someone to guide me and tell me if I’m doing something wrong with the
information that I have. It was a backup situation and everything will even out much more
sooner.
