TABLE 1.

PROFILE OF THE RESPONDENTS

Table 1 presents the profile of the teacher-respondents. In terms of sex, majority of them are female (42 or 62%)
and the rest of them are male (26 or 38%). This means that female teachers outnumber their male counterparts. As
regards their age, more than half of the respondents are in their 30s (37 or 54%) while very few are in their 50s. It can be
said that majority of them are middle adults. Along curriculum level, most of the respondents are elementary school
teachers (54 or 79%) while the rest are secondary school teachers (14 or 21%). This means that the elementary teachers
outnumber secondary teachers. In terms of their length of service, most of the respondents are novice in the teaching
profession (52 or 76%) while only few of them are seasoned teachers (1 or 1%). This means more teachers in their entry
level of teaching outnumber those with longer years of service. About the district where the respondents belong, few of
them (25 or 37%) are from the municipality of Mapanas while very few (1 or 1%) are from Laoang 1 and 4 respectively.
This can be said that respondents from Mapanas outnumber respondents from Laoang. As regards their designation,
most of the respondents are classroom teachers (49 or 72%) while very few are department heads. This means that
most of them are classroom teachers. Moving to their position, majority of the respondents are teacher 1 (47 or 69%)
while very few (3 or 4%) are head teachers. This goes to show that teachers in lower position outnumber those in higher
position.

Table 2 presents the correlation between teachers’ profile and attitude towards Statistics. It revealed that there
is no significant relationship between the profile of the teachers in terms of sex (r=-0.13,p=0.90), age (r=-0.10,p=0.92),
curriculum level (r=-0.05, p=0.96), and length of service (r=-0.03, p=0.98), and their attitude towards statistics.
