Astra Lens
Problem Statement:
This is an online astrophotography contest for all the stargazers out there. The contest will run from 5th
to 11th September 2022. Participants have to submit only one entry (One of the best pictures that they
have clicked). The picture to be submitted must be shot after 0000 hrs IST, 1st July, 2022. Participants
will be required to upload their submissions within the form link provided below. The photographs will be
judged on both the technical aspects and their popularity on social media.

Timeline and Submission


• The photo to be submitted should be clicked on or after 1st July, 2022.
• The competition begins at 0000 hrs IST, 5th September, 2022.
• Participants must submit the images latest by 2359 hrs IST, 11th September, 2022.
• The likes on Instagram up until 2359 hrs IST, 12th September, 2022 will be considered.
• The results will be announced on 13th September, 2022.
• The results will be announced on the Instagram page of Cosmology Club of DTU.

Scoring System:
The submitted photographs will be uploaded on the Cosmology Club’s Instagram and scored based on the
following factors with respective weightage:
• Technicality 25%
• Uniqueness and Creativity 20%
• Composition 20%
• Post-processing 15%
Remaining 20% weightage will be given to the amount of Instagram likes (calculated by percentile).
Rules and Regulations:

• Photo Resolution should be at least 1.6 megapixels.


• Photo manipulation like editing, morphing and stacking are allowed provided everything used for
the manipulations has been clicked by the participant himself/herself.

• The picture submitted must include metadata.


• Participants need to submit both the final image (in JPEG or JPG format) and the raw images
used to make the final image. (If the number of raw images exceeds 10 then the participant
may upload any 10 of those)

• Participants have to submit their entries in the form link.

• Participants have to submit the title (less than 10 words) and an overall description of the photo
(not exceeding 50 words).

• Any indication of plagiarism will lead to disqualification.


• Auto likes will not be taken into consideration and the entry may be disqualified.
• Any picture submitted which is not relevant to the theme of astrophotography will be disqualified.
• In case of any dispute, the decision of the organizing committee will be final.
