from oral traditions, 19th-century African American spirituals flourished without being
written down. Their refrains were their most stable parts, and narrative stanzas were often improvised to fit.
These Nativity stanzas attempt to recall that tradition.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
FCCE Covid Protocols
As we enter cold/flu/COVID-peak season, a warm reminder that masking is
encouraged in the sanctuary as a practice of care for ourselves and one another. If you
have the sniffles, are testing positive, or are under the weather, our worship services
are also streamed live on Zoom and posted online for later viewing so you can worship
with us while staying safe at home. Be well, beloveds!

In November, the church is

convening a series of small group
meetings to ask the members and
friends of First Congregational
Church about our strengths and our
growth edges. At the meetings we
will speak and listen, and invite you
to imagine a new future where we
grow back, not to what was, but
toward what we can become!

There are upcoming meetings (both

in person and via Zoom) on 11/13,
11/14 and 11/15.

Contact Mahdia for info on how to

sign up and join in upcoming
meetings, or look at the email from
last week to sign up online.
