Art Appreciation

LESSON 3
Arturo Souribio
Chose which art do you appreciate the most and why?
Among the figures supplied in Figure M, Mona Lisa was the one who captured
my attention. This is as it depicts a lot which means and emotion via each detail that
changed into flawlessly performed with a purpose. The Mona Lisa is Leonardo da
Vinci`s most famous work, demonstrating his perfect status as a Renaissance
figure. The Renaissance values of secularism, realism, and individualism are
expressed in the Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa represents secularism, as it is a portrait
of a woman and has nothing to do with God. Leonardo's knowledge of sfumato
(microscopic shading) and his appreciation of the musculature and skull beneath
the skin can be seen in the subject's gentle sculptural profile.

What are the different forms of human faculties? Define each.

1. Level of the Senses - It can generate ideas about what's around us and how we
can perceive information from everything we see with our senses.
2. Level of the Will - You can understand certain emotions depending on what you
perceive in the situation you are in.
3. Level of the Mind - Find reasons and think critically so you can act appropriately

How do these faculties (senses, the will and the mind) are used in art
analysis?
These skills are used for art analysis using visual elements. Expression,
emotional suggestion, philosophical meaning. When we look at a painting, drawing,
or even a sketch, our senses, will, and mind works together to understand the
message that what we are looking at conveys.

What is a Visual Element?

Visual factors are the constructing blocks of artwork and design. Lines,
shapes, directions, sizes, textures, colors, values, and all the other features you see
in drawings and paintings. Design principles for using these elements include
balance, gradient, repetition, contrast, harmony, dominance, and unity.
What is a Representation?
The representation shows a sort of description or portrayal of a person or
something. In visible arts, this means that the artwork item depicts something apart
from or out of doors itself. Representation is a type of recording that describes
sensory knowledge about a physical entity in a medium. The Mona Lisa and a
child's crayon drawing of Lisa del Giocondo, for example, are both considered
representational, and any preference for one over the other must be interpreted as a
matter of taste.

What does it mean by Emotional Suggestion

In a great world, feelings create emotions that go with the drift naturally.
Expressing emotion via artwork is an extremely good manner to launch one's
emotions. The artist expresses feelings and ideas in words or paint or stone. Having
to paint or draw is an amazing outlet for feelings that are too deep to be talked
about. It also suggests what you feel when you see a painting. Whether you will feel
sad, happy, or terrified it will reflect what you see.

What does it mean by Intellectual Meaning?

Intellectual means involving a person`s ability to think and understand ideas
and information. Having a deeper understanding of art means that our emotions
influenced our intellectual thinking. The thoughts, concepts, and images of art make
up intellectual meaning. Intellectual art is described as art that is influenced by and
encourages reflective reflection rather than solely appealing to emotions.

What is Art Appreciation?
Art appreciation is a positive, perceptive, emotional, and intellectual response
to art. The beauty of a work of art. It is also relevant to the study and analysis of the
art forms in which we work are exhibited. This can be very subjective, depending on
individual tastes and optional, or can be made on a variety of grounds, such as
factors of designers and masters being on display in the room.

What are the the importance and significance of art appreciation?

Art appreciation is applicable for lots of reasons. Art appreciation enables
opening up the mindset of humans through paying attention to distinct views and
perspectives in addition to interpretations of the art. It encourages considerate
communication and the information that there are a couple of method to everything.

Choose one art form and evaluate/appraise selected art based on

aesthetic, social, cultural, historical, universal relevance and value
observing and respect to diversity and multi-culturalism. You may opt to
choose some art forms given below or look for it through internet or other
media.
The three-quarter perspective, in which the sitter's position mainly faces the
viewer, broke away from the traditional profile pose used in Italian art and soon
became the standard for all portraits, surviving well into the twenty-first century.
The Mona Lisa set the benchmark for all future portraits with its sublime fusion of
sitter and scenery. The Mona Lisa had a huge impact on the Renaissance and later
periods, revolutionizing modern portrait art. Raphael, a young painter who sketched
Leonardo's work in progress and used the Mona Lisa format for his portraits, was
one of these artists. When it comes to the Mona Lisa, a major part of its charm
derives from the fact that it tends to defy any law of classical painting while also
maintaining Renaissance techniques and ideals. Leonardo began to depart from the
cliché methods of Renaissance painting by using a new style of the canvas, known
as cottonwood paneling, which was responsible for the Mona Lisa's longevity.
Leonardo not only altered the painting's minor details, but he also incorporated new
painting techniques. Typically, both the landscape and the front of the artwork will
be painted with the same level of precision. Leonardo, on the other hand, used a
technique known as sfumato, in which he blurred the edges and backdrop to create
a more natural painting. This technique is often used on the mask of the Mona Lisa.
