WARNING ELECTRONICS UNIT (WEU)

PURPOSE
This unit incorporates logic circuitry to generate warning
signals for stall warning, configuration warnings, altitude
alert, master-warning lights and associated warning
sounds.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION/FEATURES
The unit is 10 by 15 by 18 inches in size and weighs 18
pounds (8 kg). It can contain up to thirteen modules
(depending on configuration) and two power supplies.
Supplemental cooling is accomplished by blowing air
through the unit in accordance with ARINC 600.
ACCESS
Access to the modules of the WEU is gained by
opening four Dzus fasteners on the front door of the
unit.
BITE MODULE
Two fault ball annunciators are provided to monitor
operation of each power supply. They are color coded
black for operational, or yellow for a fault condition. A
reset switch is provided for returning tripped fault
annunciators to the operational mode.

Non-Normal Operation
When the radio altimeter fails, speedbrake alert logic In addition to the speedbrake indications, you also see

Speedbrakes Alert Test indications continue until the test switch is released.
The speedbrake function of the landing configuration
warning module test is done with the CONFIG-LDG test
switch on P61. The test may be done in the air or on the
ground. The left radio altimeter must be valid for the
test to operate.
Put the speedbrake lever past the armed position and
push the test switch. This provides a discrete input to
the microprocessor that starts a self-test. If the
self-test passes and the radio altimeter is valid, a
TEST OK signal to AND gate 2, OR gate 5, and NAND gate

- Amber SPEEDBRAKES light on P1-3
- SPEEDBRAKE EXT message on EICAS
- Master CAUTION light (controlled by the EICAS
computers)
- Beeper sound (controlled by EICAS and the
siren/owl modules).
