1- Rosa Parks went across the street to the drugstore and got some pills,
for her aching neck. And when she came back, she noticed another bus
approaching and didn’t see anybody standing up in the back. But by the
time she got to the bus door, a number of people had gotten ahead of her,
and when she got on, the Negro Section in back was well filled. There was
one vacant seat in the fifth row-the Empire Theater. Several whites got on
and took the designated white seats. This left one white man standing, and
the driver J.F. Blake looked in the rear view mirror and told the four blacks
in the fifth row to get up so that the white man could sit down. There must
have been something in the air on this day, for at first, nobody moved.
Blake noticed this with surprise and raised his voice.
2- ‘‘Υou’’ all better make it light on yourselves and let me have those
seats. At that point, the man sitting next to Rosa Parks stood up, and she
shifted her leg in the seat and let him pass. As she moved to the window,
she noticed out of the corner of her ever that the two women across the aisle
had also vacated their seats.
3- No? As tension rose in the bus, driver Blake approached Rosa Parks
and asked if she was going to move. No, she wasn’t. Blake said that if she
didn’t get up, he would have to call the police. Go ahead and call them Rosa
Parks said.

5- Before too much time passed, the driver returned with two

should have to, she replied, and then there came from deep inside her a
terrible and unanswered question.
7- ‘Whу do уou push us around?’ There was no answer, in the police
manual to that question, and the officer number. I don’t know, but the law
