2.1 04 Strategies for your speaking you get stuck at any question.
REMINDERS
These are not panacea to all questions in Part 1, but you can harness them when needed,
boosting your fluency and showing off your vocabularies to some extent.
Weapon 1 Knowledge
Can you draw? Are you good at art? (K1)
Áp dụng: Em không vẽ được/ nhưng bạn Honestly, I am not a big fan of art or
em lại giỏi lĩnh vực này/ Em có học hỏi drawing. But my close friend, Teo, has a
vài thứ như (mixing colors, sketching knack for this. I’ve learned a couple of
you name it), nhưng em vẫn còn gà mờ things from him, like graffi, sculpture,
lắm!!! sketching, you name it. I’ve known a
very famous painting which is the Mona
Lisa painting with an impeccable beauty.
However, I am still a novice in this field.
Notes: You can develop your own answers if possible by using good vocabularies and
ideas. Mine is just a suggestion.
I will develop further ideas for you in following sections.
Expand vocabularies:
K1 Reading the passage below_ Listening to the passage to fill the gaps.
The arts have also been classified as seven: painting, architecture, sculpture, literature,
music, performing and cinema. When it comes to painting, there are some ubiquitous
types, such as, oil painting, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, abstract painting, to
name but a few. In some countries, writing or painting on walls is a crime. In some
countries, artists can draw and paint in certain places. For example, in Taiwan, there are
'graffiti zones' where artists can paint on walls. In Bristol in the UK, there is a street art
festival in August every year. Artists paint all the buildings in a street. Lots of people
come to watch the artists and take photos. You can see exhibitions of street art in some
galleries too. There have been exhibitions of street art in galleries in Paris, London and
Los Angeles.
Leonardo da Vinci, artist, scientist and inventor of the Italian Renaissance, is the painter
of the Mona Lisa and is considered one of the most versatile polymath with an
impeccable beauty of all time. There are various interpretations of the smile; some say it
is a happy smile, others find it deceptive, and still others believe it is a sad smile.
Mona Lisa’s smile is TOOO mysterious, NOT MINE. :D you can enjoy mine :D better to
enjoy, shining, bíu ty hớn nì!!! ha ha ha :D
MY FRIENDS AND I
Honestly = To be totally upfront with you, I am not a big fan of something/ I am not good
at something. But My close friend, Tèo, has a knack for this (….)
I’ve learned a couple of things from him, like (….)Mixing things up/ to boil
an egg
But, I am still a novice/ a beginner.
Task 1 Apply W1 into your answer if possible
W1 Knowledge
Can you cook?
Em không thích và không giỏi nấu ăn.

bản như … nhưng em vẫn non nớt lắm :D

A) Not everybody out there has a knack for cooking! It takes a lot more than just
mixing things up and coming up with a dish. If it weren't for art, we would be still
eating raw and bland food. If it weren't art, nobody would have bothered about
Masterchef shows and books. If it weren't for art, our lives would have been
missing out on a lot! Cooking, in itself, is a wholly different dimension of art.
B) How to make spaghetti: The most popular way to cook spaghetti is simple. Put the
pasta into plenty of boiling water, stir it, bring it to a simmer, turn the heat off, put
a lid on, and leave it to finish cooking for 10-12 mins. Then you can use sauce and
enjoy your meal. I love spaghetti with clams, which is a perfectly classic
combination
When I was a child/younger, I had been daunted by the idea of doing something

I love dogs as they are loyal animals, they’re always there no matter waht, and they have
a bit of characters, then they can lift your spirit up when you are feeling down. I am
interested in birds, too. It’s really refreshing to relish their chirping every morning if you
live in the countryside like me. What fascinating me is the view of the competition
between what seemed like hundreds of birds singing their heart out in the forest.
Pets are companions of humans, and nothing beats the feeling you’re coming home and
having a dog wagging his tail to see you. I've got a minimum of 2 dogs at home/ they are
living in a kennel in my garden. They are very adorable, trainable, and could do hundreds
of tricks to entertain people. A couple of years ago, I had a pet dog, his name was Mon
but sadly he succumbed to an ovarian tumor. This event really pricked my heart and
welled my eyes. To be upfront, I really miss him.
I have set my heart on adopting some aristocratic dogs, such as Corgis, which is a
symbol of royal and toy doys but this breed seems very melancholic.
When I was a child/younger, I had been daunted by the idea of doing something

Lorna: It’s great to be alive, isn’t it?
Deangelo: What?!
Lorna: I’ve come to realize that this is more than a job. It’s a vocation. I’m doing valuable
work that I’m well suited for.
Lorna: I’m high on life and my newfound sense of purpose. I realize that I’m doing this job
because I have a calling and this is what I’m meant to do.
Lorna: Of course not. Yesterday, it occurred to me the legacy I’ll be leaving behind after my

Lorna: I provide salve to people who need it. I give succor to those in need.

Joanna: It was okay, but I’m not really into big-budget movies with a lot of special effects and big-
name stars.
Martin: Oh, you’re a film snob. I bet you only watch indie films made on a shoestring budget with low
production values.
Joanna: No, that’s not true. I just don’t like crowd-pleasers that are predictable. I like movies that
stretch the imagination and have some artistic value.
Martin: You mean you like those weird movies with no plot and a lot of strange characters. They’re
artsy, but leave you totally confused.
Martin: Well, I’m going to see the new Spiderboy movie next week. I don’t suppose you want to
come?
Joanna: I can’t watch artsy films all the time. Variety is the spice of life, don’t you think?

4# Dancing/ Sports
Can you dance? (cấu trúc) better coordination, and flexibility.
- To be upfront with you, I am not a big fan of dancing. But my close friend,
Henry, has a knack for this. I’ve learned a couple of things such as how to
warm-up, improving flexibility, you name it. However, I’m still a novice.
5# Weather/Seasons/Travel
Do you prefer sunny days or rainy days? (cấu trúc)
- Honestly,I dont think weather is gonna be a big part of my life, so either sunny
days or rainy days are okay. But if I had to choose one of them, I would go with
sunny days because the sunshine makes me very energetic and active.
How about the weather in your country?
- In Vietnam, it depends on which part you belong to. I live in the South of Vnam,
it only has 2 seasons: the rainy and the dry season. I would say that the
weather is scorching hot in the dry season.
If you have a chance to travel now, where would you like to go? (cấu trúc)
- I really consider myself as a bit of a travel enthusiast. I meant I have an itchy
feet. I have a particular interest in travelling to a place where I can find my
inner peace. What really fascinates me is traveling to Dalat, one of the most
gorgeous view in Vietnam, because it’s really tranquil and beautiful.
6# Time Management

Are you good at time management?
- I would say that I’m not a high-organized person. I mean I find it hard to focus
on one task. But my mom is really good at time management. I’ve learnt a
couple of things such as how to plan the schedule effectively, how to set the
goals… So I try to working on it.

To tell you the truth, I am not much more than a person who splits
hairs and is too picky about my appearance, but neatly dressing is a
way to respect others, and yes, looking myself in the mirror can help
me set the right tone təʊn for the outing and make any adjustments
with items that might not match for me and make sure that I don’t
look like a mess going out.
Have you ever bought mirrors? Do you often buy mirrors?(Not very
often)
(what a weird question)
Not at all. I’ve still got a vivid memory of some dreams I had been
through, especially ones strongly stirring my emotions, such as
dreaming about a cruel death/ monsters/ ghosts or being chased
after by someone in a very petrifying/scary way.
I’ve got a hazy memory of dreams. I cant tell how it looks like or I
cant remember my dreams in detail!!!!
(W1)
Do you share your dreams with others?
I’ve got into a habit of doing something)
I have a habit of
(W1)
Yes, I do, I often share my dreams with my buddy to relieve stress .
When it comes to hilarious dreams, our chatting about this stuff can
spice up the atmosphere. I still remember vividly that my friend
laughed hysterically after knowing my dream about me turning into
a pink chicken, it is kinda weird, I have no idea why I had such a
crazy conception? It’s anybody’s guess.
No, I dont have that habit. It sounds crazy when you tell
others about your dreams. It’s non-sense!
Absolutely yes. A lot of people out there, including me, always try to
decipher or interpret our dreams in a variety of ways. For me,
dreams are still mysterious, and no one yet fully understands their
purpose.
