In the previous lesson, you have learned about forms in music. Forms let you
identify and differentiate the sections in a song; sections having the same and different pitch,
melody and rhythm.
A. Unitary Form - it contains only one section which remains the same all throughout the
whole song or composition.
B. Binary Form (AB) - made up of two musical parts or has two different melodic ideas.
C. Ternary Form (ABA or ABC) - made up of three parts or three different melodic idea.
D. Rondo Form (ABACA) - made up of five or more musical parts with some repetitions.

What is It
There are two types of pictures given above. Picture A shows a group of

What is It
Violin – the leader and heart of the orchestra. It is played by moving the bow across
the strings.
Viola – a little larger than the violin.
Cello – larger than the viola. Played by players between the knees using a bow.
Double bass – largest among the stringed instruments.
Harp – stringed instrument that is played by plucking the strings

C. Brass Instruments/ Brass Section
Timpani – also called a kettle drum. The only percussion with a pitch.
Snare Drum – usually seen during parades and festivals in a drum and lyre corps.
Bass Drum – the largest drum and has the lowest pitch.
