II. Answer the following questions.

1. How can the residents in your community avoid natural disasters?
It’s simple. By doing precautionary measures, the residents are already
contributing to a vital part in avoiding natural disasters. Bringing med
kits, being extra ready—creating a mindset that preparation is the key to
almost everything. Acknowledging that anything can happen in case of a
calamity. We also can watch the news in order for us to get updates
whenever there is a disaster coming. Prevention is also a factor in
avoiding natural disasters. If we take care of our surroundings, reduce
deforestation, avoid worsening pollution, reduce global warming, we are
able to reduce the probability of having natural disasters. An individual
can already make a change by doing the things that are said. The
community could also cooperate and create a plan when a calamity hits.
They can help with funds to give relief goods if people become affected.
They should also have an activity to practice how to evacuate. With the
help of each other, we can avoid the people that will be hurt in a disaster.
As responsible citizens, we need to know what we should do before a
natural disaster, while it is happening and after it had happened.

2. Are there places in our country that are safe from natural disasters?
What are these places? Why do you say so?
In my opinion, the safest place we could go is in an evacuation center.
Because this place is obviously built for people that has been affected by
a calamity, during a calamity, or to provide a safe shelter for a short time
before the disaster strikes. There aren’t many places in the Philippines
that are safe during a calamity that’s why many people are affected. But,
the government has organizations and platforms which helps people
during a crisis.
