THE IMPORTANT OF CROSS CULTURE UNDERSTANDING TOWARDS

MANGGRAIAN CULTURE

As we know that cross culter understanding ( CCU) is a study taught in

english with in cross culture understanding course we can learn an understanding
namely the understanding of culture differences in the from of an introduction to
foreign culture differences in life or that examine an inter-country habit that aims
to gain an understanding of the culture differences and habits of both countries, in
particular the culture of people of Us and also the culture bhritis society.

Then, the nation of culture itself is in the form of the result of the
nersumner taste and initiation of the human mind itself which has been passed
down through generation into a kind of life view of a society or nation itself,
which is transmitted from generation to generation and becomes the foundation
for its owner, so that every person or society must have its own culture,and
culture is also parts of a civilization.

Accourding to lintion,defines culture “,as away of life if its member’s the

collection ideas and habit which they learn,share and transmit from generation to
generation”. And in short the cross culture understanding course also gives us the
idea that the differences is beautiful and also able to give an idea of how we can
respond to differences especially in culture.

As we know that in indonesian well-know with various cultures,especially in

manggarai.

In manggarai also well-know with various cultures like this “ caci dance etc”

Manggarai is a small town that stayed by a group people . Manggarai is

the one of place inthe indonesian country,in manggarai have a many new
destination for tourism,about adventure and ceremony be amazing include. The
important point to learn cross culture understanding toward manggarain culture
so that we know the most of culture,because we know the culture is important to
us to understant character from the culturre itself. the culture is a feature of
identity of a group of people who inhabit a particular region, this culture arises
from acts perpetrated by society over and over again to from a habit that
eventually becomes a culture of society itself. Culture that has been formed that
will enter and rooted in human life, so without us realize this culture has
influenced human life. With study the cross culture understanding we will know
how the culture in our country and so we can move of the name understand of
culture. The another important point is ,with any learn about cross culture
understanding so we will becomes understand and know the way attitude and way
receive the difference on thing culture and rules. Another important point is by
studying the cross culture understanding (CCU) course,so that we can avoid the
misunderstanding of culture,which we know that the purpose of the cross culture
understanding CCU) course is to introduce student to the concept of culture and
the differences between the culture of indonesia with other foreign or foreign
cultures,especially western culture ndi American and British. So i think that this
course can broaden the horizon about the culture and lifestyle of people in a
country that has never been knon before. In manggarain culture have a cultures
like this” caci dance” , the culture of caci is a culture that transmit from
generation of generation, this culture is known in manggarai because the culture
is performed when there is ceremony” penti” and welcoming an honor-guest . in
manggarai caci is a dangerous game and multi combination between skills to
attack and to hold on ,song, dance.n the past, heros and knights perfom the dance
to celebration and evoke a battle between villages,but nowdays, people of
manggarai performed the caci during celebrations such as : wedding party,etc.
Caci dance held perform in the “natas’ of “mbaru gendang”.

The field of traditional mother house caci generally begun with a dance called
‘‘danding” or also called “tandak manggarai”. The tandak manggarai dance
performed by males and females. Caci is a dance to show up the heroes
‘knighthood characters”. Moreover, caci dance is a combination of arts,because
the dancers perform the art of musicor ‘nenggo” and art of “dancing’ “ lomes” in
the same time.one cuould hardly participate if that person does not passes those
qualities or talents. Caci is derived from the word “ca “which means ”one
“meaning “opponent” or “try”. In addition, caci i a fair,sportive and creative
togetherness. The fighters control themselves in the nuance of unity and high-
esteem of goodwill. Therefore, whoever gets hurt and loses during the game
accepts it wholeheartedly. No revenge or hatred. The rules and dancers of the
dance. In caci dance,there are terms for the dancers: “Ata one” the hosr of the
event and “Ata pe’ang” or the guest is also called ” Meka lakong” or the
challenger. The “ striker” is called “Ata paki” and the defender is called “Ata
ta’ang|”.during the dance ,the past of the past of the body that may be the target
of attacking are the parts from the navel up to the face and the entire head. The
dancer looses the game if he is hit by the “larik” ( a whip used for striking0 on the
face or head. For enflame the heroic-spirit of the dancer,music is kept on playing
from the other side of the field. Instruments such as :”gong and gendang” are
played non stop. Caci dancers are also treated with manggarain traditional drink
called “sopi” in order to keep their courage alive.

Tools and customes in caci dance ,tools are very important in supporting
the game such as “larik” or “whip” used for striking, has two parts ;the stick and
the robe; stick serve as to attack-made of buffalo’s dry-skinnet-it sliced until it
form as robe ,it for the robe . “nggiling” or “shield”for defending : the same
material with the “larik”.”koret” ( thing archers ‘bow –like) made up of
bamboo.the customes can be varieties,but usually have in common among the
dancers.the customes such as : “songke”manggarai traditional sarong,’selendang”
or “shawl” or “mufler” “kendik” or belt”nggorong’ ( things made from mental
formed ball-like and stone put inside of it –which result a certain sound when a
dancers moves . it twist around the waist ,”ndeki” (horsetail-like,put on the
back) , “panggal”( serve as crown,put on the hand ,buffalo horn-like.).
nevertheless,at some point it looks like roster co, other clothes “sapu” serve as
face and head protecture or other need of the dancers.

So learn cross culture understanding is really important to us to know how

about the culture and the understanding us of the culture .
