4. Identify and discuss the physiological and psychological changes that Andrea may
experience.

What can be done to allay these discomforts? Give at least independent nursing

1. Frequent Urination - I will advice the client to limit liquid intake before bed time:
perform kegel exercises to improve tone of muscles that control urination.
2. Backache - I will advice the client to pelvic exercise to relieve low back ache of fatigue
3.Fatigue - I will advice the client to take 8hrs of sleep ata night and frequent rest during
Day time: also avoid standing for long periods of work while seated as much as possible.
4.Nasal stuffiness - I will advice the client to avoid allergen and smoked filled room:
breathe steam from pot of boiling water
5.Breast Tenderness and nipple irritation - wash breast with water only, no soaps and
alcohol to prevent drying and irritation: wear supportive maternity bra with non elastic bra

6. Formulate 1 (one) nursing diagnosis based on the signs and symptoms/ problems that
Andrea presented.
- Improper nutrition related to low
Appetite that leads to weight loss.

7. What are your plans to manage her problem? Present your general and specific
objectives based on your formulated nursing diagnosis.
a. Specific objectives - the patient will regain appetite and will avoid fatty or spicy
food, drink fluids separately from meals, and eat small, more frequent meals
b. General Objective - the patient will maintain the normal weight and appetite until
full term

8. What is the significance of proper diet and nutrition to a pregnant woman? Discuss
healthy eating habits and vitamins needed for Andrea and her growing fetus.
- To ensure the health of the mother-fetus and the infant, a healthy diet must be
consumed during the preconception period, pregnancy, and lactation. When
planning the maternal diet, It’s important to keep in mind that low intakes of
vitamins and minerals, as well as frequent consumption of food and beverages
high in refined sugar. Increase the likelihood of low birth weight babies, Whereas
adequate intakes of micronutrients and carbohydrates can lower it.

9. What may be the possible lifestyle modifications/changes that Andrea should be able to
adapt to, now that she is pregnant?

10. Discuss the significance of prenatal visits to the mother and the baby. Why is it important
that the mother should have the support and presence of her family and significant
others in her pregnancy journey?
