REFLECTION
The Department of Education (DepEd) is adopting the enclosed National Indigenous
Peoples Education Policy framework. The preparation was in the consultation of the
representatives from IP communities, civil society and other government agencies as
stipulated in paragraph1 D.O 62 s.2011).Policies for inclusive and equitable quality of
education. The focus on educational performance indicators on attendance and literacy was
not only given a priority but they focused on the concerns of their cultures, practices and
traditions, as well as integrating approaches and principles associated to Indigenous
communities into policy making and education reforms. In such a way, education would
enhance indigenous learners on personal and professional growth to foster the integration
into school and communities with due regard to their perspectives and cultural identity.

To learn Indigenous cultures, histories, languages and practices can attract

enriching partnerships, relationships and respectful engagement. .

Indigenous languages taught in schools could help Indigenous children feel

comfortable that their identity is respected, facilitating and encouraging a new generation of
IP children to speak their language, perform their practices shared their tradition and values.

To know the individuality of our learners, it is better to prepare our lesson with
various performance tasks /activities by group or individual so that it is easier to identify our
learners where they belong!
