NARRATIVE REPORT ON CAREER GUIDANCE SA BARANGAY

The threat of COVID-19 has been a challenge and is continually testing our human survival.
Nobody was prepared so everyone on their feet trying to survive the pandemic. The education sector is
equally affected. Learners are particularly vulnerable to the abrupt change to the “New Normal” scheme
specifically on the academe. So as not to impede the education services the Department of Education
recommended the use of flexible learning methods for continued access to learning wherein students
can learn when, where and how they like.

In accordance to the Rule V of the implementing Rules and Regulations of the Basic Education Act
of 2013 states that the Department of Education (DepEd) is mandated to properly guide secondary level
students in choosing career tracks that they intend to pursue through informed career choices towards
becoming productive and continuing individuals.

The K-12 Basic Education Program of the Department of Education , which introduces the
additional two years of Senior Grades 11 and 12, through this curriculum, learners are equipped to be
holistically developed Filipinos with 21st Century skills in preparation to their chosen career.

Thus, Senior High School Department of Tiwi Agro-Industrial School adheres to the Rule V and
together with the DepEd Order no.03 s.2018 or the Basic Education Enrolment Policy.

To respond to such mandate the, SHS Faculty conducted a series of “Career Guidance Talk sa
Barangay” for Incoming Grade 11 students , Out of School Youth and “Balik- Aral last April 1-30, 2022
from the identified barangays Bagumbayan, Biyong, San Bernardo, Libtong and Cale.
These aimed toward self- awareness, right to educate and informed career decision-making bridging
the delivery system of the K-12 Curriculum.

The series of program started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and a prayer led
by assigned SHS teacher for the day, followed by a Words of Welcome from the Brgy. Chairman of the
identified barangay . The SHS-Guidance Coordinator, Mrs. Myla R. Aguado delivered the Statement of
the Purpose of the activity. Our very own School Principal II Dr. Ely M. Laus rendered his message and
strengthened the importance of education nowadays. He emphasized that when we put so much
premium on education these could be our ticket to come out from poverty. The Career Talk was
discussed through a power point presentation of the assigned SHS Teachers from the Academic tracks
and others from the Technical-Vocational Livelihood (TVL), and was followed by the presentation of
the offered and approved specialization such as Humanities and Social Sciences(HUMSS), General
Academic Strand (GAS), STEM ,and ABM from the Academic Strand. On the other hand, from TVL track
we have, OAP, CSS, EPAS,
EIM, Food Technology like: Bartending, FBS, BPP. As an Agricultural School we encouraged also

enrollees in Organic Agriculture Production specialization. We entertained also queries from the
participants regarding specialization they wanted to take-up in Senior High School. It ended -up with
great enthusiasm and success.

Indeed, our school is doing its best for the benefit of the learner, to mold them into a holistic
individual, As this cryptic saying “ Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you’ve
imagined”.
