ASSESSMENT TASK 5-3 C. Instruction: In your interpretation, why or how did


Governor Izquierdo and Pardo de Tavera had different accounts on the Cavite
Mutiny. Write your discussion in the space provided below.
Because of their ancestry and connections to the individuals being sought for, in

my opinion, they provided varying narratives of the Cavite Mutiny. Izquierdo, the

governor, was pro-Spanish because he was a Spanishman. He asserted that those

involved in the mutiny were attempting to topple the Spanish administration in

Cavite for this reason. Izquierdo Governor found it offensive. Pardo de Tavera, on

the other hand, was a Filipino historian. Unlike Governor Izquierdo, he didn't only

look at it from one perspective; instead, he determined the causes of the rebellion.

Because of this, Pardo de Tavera asserted that they were only on strike to protest

the high taxes being imposed on them and not to start a revolution.
