GENRAL INSTRUCTION: Answer the following.

1. (10 points) Determine whether the following two graphs are equivalent. Justify your answer.
Answer:
1.1 This graph is equivalent because it shows same connections of
edges to each vertices even though they have different graphs.

1.2 This graph is not equivalent because they don’t have the same
connection and vertices even though they have pattern and set
of vertices. In the figure 1, we can see that the vertex D is only
have 1 edge and in figure 2 shows that the vertex D have 3
edges.
2. (5 points) Does the graph shown below have an Euler circuit? Explain.
Answer:
This graph is not Euler Circuit because the number of edges of vertex E is 3 which is an odd
number same as with vertex B, C, and G. Based on the definition of the Euler circuit each vertex
can only have even number of edges.
3. (5 points) The floor plan of a warehouse is illustrated below. Use a graph to represent the
floor plan, and answer the following questions: Is it possible to walk through the warehouse so
that you pass through every doorway once but not twice? Does it matter whether you return to
the starting point? Justify your answer. NOT POSSIBLE

4. (20 points) The cost of flying between various European cities is shown in the following table.
Use both the greedy algorithm and the edge-picking algorithm to find a low-cost route that
visits each city just once and starts and ends in London. Which route is more economical?

5. (10 points) Six friends are taking a film history course and because they have procrastinated, need to
view several films the night before the final exam. They have rented a copy of each film on DVD, and
they have a total of three DVD players in different dorm rooms. If each film is two hours long and they
start watching at 8:00 p.m., how soon can they all be finished watching the required films? Create a
viewing schedule for the friends. Use 4-coloring.
