CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

This chapter serves as an introductory chapter. It contains the Rationale,

Statement of the Problem, Scope and Delimitation, Significance of the Study and

Definition of Terms.

Rationale

In the modern day, electronic devices and media have unintentionally emerged

into our daily life. Expansion of the mobile phone since the previous five years, density

has expanded dramatically. The teenage population has witnessed a very big growth in

the usage of mobile phones, primarily because this technology becomes considerably

more relevant throughout adolescence than it does during earlier developmental stages.

According to Oxford Languages, technology is the branch of knowledge dealing

with engineering or applied sciences. It is the application of scientific knowledge for

practical purposes, especially in industry. It is the advances in computer technology. It is

also machinery and equipment developed from the application of scientific knowledge

According to Collins Dictionary, a gadget is a small machine or device which

does something useful. You sometimes refer to something as a gadget when you are

suggesting that it is complicated and unnecessary.

According to Merriam Webster’s Dictionary, it is also an often small mechanical

or electronic device with a practical use but often thought of as a novelty.

Gadgets has impacted and altered how people live in today's age. People's lives

are now more efficient and convenient thanks to these gadgets. The modern society's

improvements in computers and gadgets have largely affected everyone. Many

individuals experience less stress since helpful hi-tech innovations are being developed
to make their life easier and more efficient. Cell phones, computers, and the Internet are

a few of these practical technological advancements.

The user's lives, as well as the lives of his or her close friends and family, are

negatively impacted by gadgets. It has an impact on a person's academic, family, social,

economic, and personal health. An individual's thinking is badly impacted by excessive

use of electronics. The person becomes distracted since all of his or her attention is on

using technology or devices. He or she has a tendency to overlook other crucial aspects

of life, their concentration wanes, and they are unable to sustain their attention on other

matters.

A new avenue for successful learning has been made possible by the use of

technology in classrooms. Everyone's future and professional development are greatly

influenced by technology. Today's world is getting increasingly reliant on technology. It

has evolved and grown in importance to learning.

Consequently, the current study was conducted to determine the impact of using

electronic devices on overall behavior, and academic achievement.

The purpose of the study is to determine how gadgets affect students' learning.

This investigation will be carried out in line with this rationale.
