I know you are all excited, but before we proceed to this tour, we will give you a short orientation. We want you to familiarize with yourself with the safety precautions, the SMILE. S – Secure your belongings, do not leave your things unattended, and always keep your important things with you. Jesa: M – Make sure that you are always with a group, don’t leave your group, and if you have to go, please approach us. Ereca: I – Interact with other tourists, so if given a chance, you will be able to show your experiences. Jesa: L – Leave the place clean as the famous quotations goes, take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints and kill nothing but time. Both: E – Enjoy this tour and always keep in mind our security. You must be timely because there are other people who are also enjoying the place. So, SMILE. Ereca: Additionally, as we are on the trip, we bring first aid materials just for emergency purposes. We also give you some sign and signals. One of this is the whistle. We, as your tour guide use this whistle and blow it to create sound. When one of us blow the whistle once, it means that we are going to another destination, and if the whistle blows twice, it means that someone is lost and missing. But you don’t have to worry too much for that because we have full security to secure tourists. Jesa: Moreover, as we ride in the bus, please keep your seatbelts fastened at all times. Keep your hands inside the bus and please remain seated until we come to a full stop. Thank you. (Arrived at Canlaon City) Both: We are here ma’am and sir, welcome to the city of Canlaon where gentle and friendly people around. Ereca: Did you know ma’am and sir that here in Canlaon City is located at the Northern end of the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines. Jesa: Also, Canlaon City was previously known as sitio Mabigo, and it was named this because of Bigo trees that abounded in the place. Ereca: In 1946, sitio Mabigo became a municipality and one year later, it become a city. Cebuano is the native language that is spoken here. Just like the word “I am pretty” in Cebuano it means “Gwapa ko.” Well I’m just stating the obvious. Right ma’am and sir? Do you agree with me? Jesa: Ma’am and sir in connection to that, tagalog and English are languages used in government offices, schools, and other institutions. Some people also speak the Hiligaynun langauge. Ereca: The area features plains and rolling hills with sugarcane, corn and rice, and some of the crops that are planted in the region. Jesa: Did you know ma’am and sir, that here in Canlaon is abundant of fruits and vegetables and are the main products of this city, and take note they are available at low prices. Ereca: The city also exports agricultural products to neighboring islands and municipalities. Both: We will assure you that you’ll enjoy the beautiful destination and tourist spots here in Canlaon, including the Canlaon Volcano, The Oldest Tree and Padudusan Falls. Jesa: Ma’am and sir, you will not be feeling bored in this trip because we have so many activities to do in this location, including hiking, trekking, mountain climbing, and swimming. So are you ready for our first destination? Both: Alright. Let’s go. Ereca: So ma’am and sir, our first destination is the oldest tree or also called the Balete Tree. According to the Botanists of Siliman University the tree was estimated about 1328 years old and declared as the oldest tree in the whole island of Negros. The Balete Tree, also known as Lunok in the Visayan dialect was located in barangay Lumapao, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental. The local people told us that every night there’s a lot of fireflies fly in the trunk of this tree. Many of us have known this kind of tree because of the mystery behind it. Filipino people always believe in the belief of the traditional way and always saying “Tabi-Tabi po” its just like asking a permission before doing anything like touching softly the branches or walking around the tree and checking it closely. In that way spirit can’t cause you a harm or illness and because of that story, no one attempts to cut the some of its branches. Jesa: Ma’am and sir, remember on what the SMILE safety precaution, take nothing but pictures, leaving nothing but footprints and kill nothing but time and enjoy. Both: Did you enjoy ma’am and sir? Jesa: And now prepare yourself ma’am and sir for more adventurous and exciting destination because we are going to Mount Canlaon Volcano. By the way I have a question for ma’am and sir, are you ready to ride habal-habal in short motorjack going to Mt. Canlaon Volcano in 10 minutes? Both: Alright let’s go! Jesa: Mount Canlaon raises majestically on the border of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. With an elevation of 2, 435 in Canlaon Volcano is the highest mountain not only of the Negros, but of the whole Visayas and the largest active volcano of the Philippines. The name originated from the ancient Visayan god Kan-Laon (The Supreme Ruler One who is the Ruler of Time) which was worshiped by the locals in the pre-Spanish era. Ma’am and sir please do remain safe and enjoy your sight seeing while taking pictures. No need to rush the hiking and trekking, but rest a little longer to gain back your energy. Both: Did you enjoy ma’am and sir? Alright, because after this tiredsome of hiking and trekking, now let’s freshin’up, chill and relax. Let’s go to Padudusan Falls and waterslides. Ereca: Ma’am and sir, since Padudusan Falls is located in barangay Masulob just at the foot of Mt. Kanlaon, were just gonna walk down there to see the how beautiful and the breath taking view of the place. And now we are here ma’am and sir, welcome to Padudusan Falls. Padudusan Falls is another of Kanlaons tourist spots which have their natural waterslides. It is a public place with no entrance fee and a local favorite. There are no cottages yet, but plenty of space on the big rock around to have a nice picnic in the shades of trees. Crystal clear drinkable water from Mount Kanlaon invites for a refreshing dump in the small round pool. Ma’am and sir enjoy your day in swimming. Jesa: So ma’am and sir this is the last tourist destination. Did you enjoy our trip and the tourist spots here in Canlaon City? Since we don’t have enough time, we will accompany all of you to go back for you to check out at Bethel Guest House Hotel in Dumagute City until in the airport. (Arrived at Sibulan Airport) Both: Once again ma’am and sir thank you for choosing our agency and to be your tour guide.
